Just got done with my draft. I'm in a 14 team league, so don't be that shocked if this looks ugly. Everyone's looks ugly.

QBs: Derek Carr, Ben Roethlisberger
RBs: Melvin Gordon, Kareem Hunt, Mark Ingram, CJ Prosise, Jalen Richard
WRs: Brandin Cooks, Tyreek Hill, Adam Thielen, Tyler Lockett, Cooper Kupp
TEs: Jason Witten, Josh Hill
D/ST: Vikings
K: Cairo Santos

Team Name: Thielen Minnesota

Yeah, not pretty. I'm sure I'll be paying attention to the waiver wire early and often, but that ends up happening every year.

I suppose the first question of the year is start Carr vs. the Titans or Big Ben vs. the Browns.

Week 1 @ Patriots, NFL Season Opener Thread
Posted by: asskickingboots - 09-03-2017, 04:39 PM - Forum: 65 Toss Power Trap - Replies (86)

Short week, so it's time to get this thread started.

First off, Justin Houston has some somewhat obvious but not always followed advice about how to beat Tom Brady. "Hit him".

This is absolutely right. Don't get discouraged because he makes some plays. If you don't just get pressure but actually hit him, he can and typically will make mistakes. It's difficult to do though because he gets the ball out so quick. We've frustrated the hell out of Brady before (albeit at home) and I think this defense is more talented than that one.

Let's get this season off right!

  Chiefs add to the OL

I like this trade.  A fifth rounder for a versatile lineman with three years left on their contract.

  Browns cut Joe Haden

The Browns cut Joe Haden. The two teams with the most rumored interest are the Chiefs and the Saints.

This would be immense. Haden hasn't lived up to his big contract, but it was just a couple years ago I'd have argued he was the best CB in the NFL. If he could be our starter opposite of Peters, the actual best CB in the NFL, it'd be immense, especially if Haden is relatively cheap.

His agent thinks he'll be signed somewhere "by tomorrow afternoon", so I doubt this could turn into a SIGN TY LAW thread.

  Hurricane Harvey

Just so's y'all know, I'm way out of any danger whatsoever. But we here in DFW are supporting Harvey relief as best we can.

Here's a link with great info on how you can help:

And NOLA - if Harvey troubles the Big Easy, and the pumps all fail, you are welcome to come to DFW and hang with yours truly as long as you need to.

  Chiefs trade for Ragland

Interested to see what they gave for him.  A 2nd round pick who hasn't played a down yet.

Spencer Ware has a torn PCL
Posted by: asskickingboots - 08-27-2017, 09:13 PM - Forum: 65 Toss Power Trap - Replies (14)

Spencer Ware has a torn PCL and some LCL damage. He will almost certainly have season ending surgery, though he and the team are still exploring other options.

Terrible news and this makes the backfield a lot less crowded. I know a lot of people haven't been pleased with West in the past and a lot have little or no hope for CJ Spiller, we better start hoping one or both can step up because otherwise that's a lot of pressure on our rookie Hunt.

Don't be surprised if we're looking for another back come time for cuts.
