Alright, I'm curious. I see we added a super awesome economy system here. I'm sure it's none too complicated, but how does it work?

TiaB Round 2

29 February 2012 - 09:49 AM

Time for Round 2 of Things in a Box

Meant to have this up sooner, but I was actually busy this morning at work. Go figure.

The Category was:
History books you wouldn't want to read.

Answers were:
1. The World According to Al Davis
2. Discourses on Understanding and Tolerance by the Inquisition
3. Over Population in China by WeePhukem Young
4. On the 6th day God created man: The HG biography
5. I Totally Know Everything Ever: AKB's Overconfident Guide to Essential Knowledge

Solid job guys. I dig it. Since Chi-Town went first last time, he'll be last this time.

Order to Guess:
1. HG
2. RazorChief
3. Vazza
4. Chi-Town

Have at it, HG.

TiaB Round One

Round 1

1. Kewpies
2. The Fighting Phalluses
3. The Toad Suck Creek BullFrogs
4. HG High School - Where the Old Farts Roam
5. King's
Island
Secondary
School

Scrapin'
Ultra
Cool
Killer
Scorpions

Order to pick:
1. Chi-Town
2. HG
3. RazorChief
4. Vazza

Don't forget, one of those answers is me, and you can guess me. It's Chi-Town's turn first.

That's one guess at a time. If he's right, he gets another guess. If he's wrong, it's HG's turn. If he already guessed HG correctly, then HG is out, so we'd skip over him to the next person still in.

Things In a Box

14 February 2012 - 08:41 PM

To pass the time, I thought I'd try a web rendition of a party game I like called Things In a Box. If we could get a solid 5+ people, this could be alot of fun. This will sound complex, but it's really not. A round or two and you'll have it down. This is how it works:

1) Someone picks a category.
For example, the category might be "Awesome Robot Name" or "Title to Michael Bay's next film", etc. Normally, this responsibility would rotate around the table. I'll go on ahead and be the designated category chooser to make things easier. I'll let people suggest topics if they want, though.

2) Everyone in the game makes up something to fit the category.
If the topic was "Awesome Robot Name", they might choose "Steelfist Dickcrusher" legitimately, "Optimus Prime" if they're lazy / nostalgic, or perhaps best of all an inside joke or something personal directed at someone else playing the game, like "Vazza, the Mandible" (that dude has a heroic jawline). This increases your risk of getting guessed, but more on that in a minute.

3) Everyone turns in their answers.
Without telling anyone else, you give the person who made the category your answer. In this case, that'd mean PMing me.

4) I post the answers in a random order.
Normally I'd read them aloud twice and wouldn't repeat them again until at the end of each trip around the table. Remembering the answers is normally part of the difficulty, but that's not practical on the web.

5) People try to guess who wrote what answer.
First person tries to match an answer to a person. Since I'll know who picked what, I'll tell them if they're right, or the person who was guessed can answer. If they're right, they get to guess again until either everyone is guessed or they get one wrong. If they're wrong, the next person gets a shot. Once you've been guessed, you don't get to guess others. Normally this will go around the table clockwise, instead I'll list people by when they joined.

6) The points don't matter.
Each correct guess is worth a point, plus an additional point if you're the last person in. I'll keep track of the points, but they don't really matter. The real objective is to come up with the funniest answers you can.

In person, with friends, these games tend to break down into a bunch of inside jokes, contextual repeats and variations of earlier answers, or the worst stuff you can think of and wouldn't normally say in public (gross and/or racist answers, etc.). I'm curious how this will go online. Don't be shy.

I'll handle this about like a mock draft. Either somebody paying attention or I will PM each person when it's their turn. We'll have to decide on an amount of time allowed for each guess before we skip someone. 4 hours? 6 hours? We'll also stop during the night (you can still answer if it's your turn). I'll get e-mails directly updating me and should typically be able to answer quick with my phone.

So, for now, if you want in on this all you have to do is say so and I'll write you down. After we have enough entrants, I'll give everyone a topic and about a day to come up with an answer and/or join if they haven't already.
