I wanted to start a thread for this because I've seen some very different opinions on drafting him at 11.

What does everyone here think of him being the pick?

I'd honestly love it, even though I can't argue with any of the reasons why we shouldn't. He's probably one of my top 3 favorite players in the draft. I read a quote from him on ESPN earlier that was great.

“When it comes down to it, I’ll be the dude that’s on the field and getting the ball on third-and-3 or fourth-and-1,” Richardson said. “Not to be cocky or anything, but I work on my game every day, and even if it’s not physical stuff, I work in the classroom learning plays and learning the defensive line and what the linebackers and safeties are doing so I can pick up my blitzes. I love to block. Everybody knows I can run the ball. I’ve never been caught from behind, so if anyone wants to question my speed, just look at the tape. When it comes to playing football, any game you want to, just look at it and try to find a negative.”

QB Competition

22 February 2012 - 09:11 AM

I'm just trying to think of different names that we could bring in to compete with Cassel and a couple disappointing names have popped up.

The first is Chad Henne. I don't know if the relationship between Daboll and Henne has been documented anywhere but who knows, maybe it was great and Daboll is pushing for him now.

Then there's Brady Quinn. RAC did draft him in the first round and Daboll was his coordinator for a season in Cleveland also, I believe.

I just don't see us being aggressive enough to get Peyton or trading up for RG3 so I'm thinking of names that Pioli could call "competition" and allow Matt to keep his job.

Funny Story

So there's this girl I work with and she had been telling me about this Mizzou football player that she has been talking to. I didn't know much about him other than his name was Derrion and he played defense. Since he isn't a starter I didn't really know who he was and didn't think much more about it.

Well on Monday night a few of us from work went down to a bar for a Halloween party. Plus, I got to catch the second half the game. Well anyway, this girl tells me that her football player is coming and I'll finally get to meet him. For some reason I thought this guy looked a little familiar but again, didn't think much about it.

So Tuesday at work she asked what I thought about him and I said he seemed like a pretty nice guy and everything so I gave my approval. It wasn't until after this that I finally learned what his last name is. Thomas. Derrion Thomas. Everything clicked, and with the confirmation from some of the guys I work with, I realized why this guy looked so familiar. He is the son of the late DT.
