In Topic: Grade the Chiefs draft

I'm lowering my grade to a C just because we drafted 2 WRs. True enough one is the next Wes Walker but don't you have to have someone to throw it to him? I'm not crabbing because we didn't draft a QB, but standing by my earlier comment about them (WRs) being window dressing. My guess is that if either Stanzi or Quinn establish themselves as more than a 3rd stringer, we'll be in the market for a 1st round QB next year.

We came into the draft with 2 glaring needs, NT and QB. Well, you know we didn't stand a chance to get one of the 2 quality QBs, so we went with NT. Some will point out that he came from a weak conference and wasn't really overwhelming. I'd point out that Memphis lined him up at every position on the D-line and played under 3 different D-coordinators. Let's see how he progresses and then make a call on that. What other needs did we have? We need depth at S, LB, and OL. We got the depth at OL addressed. I'm not all that convinced we need to look at ILBs with DJ and Belcher as the starters and Greenwood and Siler as the reserves. Pass rush? Hali and Houston make a pretty good pair and Sheffield and Stude can bring it as well. I think we'll get some S help today. Please note I didn't mention WR. Why? Until we get someone, anyone to sling it downfield, WRs are just window dressing.
Overall, I'd say a B.

I've pretty much sold myself on DeCastro. To the point that I'll be disappointed if they draft someone else. Unless it's Luck or RGIII.

Yep, I'm with you. Guards aren't real cool, but I think this kid could be our next Will. Gotta love that sweep, knocking the guys in the different colored jerseys off their kesters. Geez, give me 7 linemen that can block, a couple running backs that can run, a fullback, and a season average time of possession of 48:23. Take that, Peyton and the yankee media!!

Since we've highjacked this thread, I thought y'all might like this from "another" board. From 8/2009, guess who the cheerleader was.

In pass protect, he did his job.
He stayed between his man and Cassel, allowing Cassel to step up and make plays.

Overall, I think his performance rated a continued look at him into practice and the next game.

MILKMAN!!! I am proud to announce that I agree with you 100% on this post. Evidence of that can be found in episode 17 of the blog. GOOD STUFF man.

Now even the peeps over at WPI are trying to sell Doom and Gloom as well it seems at times. Monkey see, Monkey do. Hilarious!!

I'm against Poe in the 1st. Too many red flags with him. I think Ta'amu in a later round has more upside. I'm torn on what to do with our 1st. DeCastro would give us a solid G for years to come but I really hate to leave our C spot solely on Hudson. Maybe it's just me, but an ILB in the 1st seems a little wasteful to me when we already have Belcher. I think Belcher is solid and is a lot better than people give him credit for. I'd like to think we have the flexibility to trade down, but I'm not sure what we would get out of it. If Tannehill falls to #11 I'm not sure what to do. It's clear Cassel is the starter until proved otherwise so Quinn or Stanzi would be the odd man out. I'd sure hate for either one of them go since we don't know what we have, but we're not going to carry 4 QBs and we can't gamble on stashing one on the PS.
