Impressed with your Chiefs last night

02 September 2011 - 02:55 PM

As some of you already know, my seats at Lambeau are down front just a few seats away from the visitor's tunnel, so I get to see and hear visiting teams interacting with the fans.

As Chief fans, you should be proud of how your guys conducted themselves. With rare exception, they not only took the time to sign autographs for Chief fans, but for Packer fans as well. It was very refreshing to see a team behave this way.

The Chief fans in attendance were among the nicest people ever to visit Lambeau as opposing fans. Chief fans and Indy fans have always been cream of the crop among visiting fans.

Last night's game was one of the better pre-season games I have ever attended. Your players had us Packer fans scared silly right up to the last second. That game could easily have gone the other way.

Bloodshed in Wis Capitol

25 July 2011 - 09:15 PM

I'm sure most of you are aware of the angry protests, vandalism and death threats in Wisconsin's Capitol building over the past several months. We all wondered, up here, how long it would be until blood was shed.

Today, someone finally hit the boiling point and there was an actual fight

.....and it was a fight over, get this, a balloon.

It never gets any easier

Just a few years ago we had to put down a cute little stray that we took in "just for the weekend" and ended up being a part of our family for 12 years.

Then we adopted a little black cat, and later on a second one figuring if one black cat is bad luck, two black cats might cancel eachother out. Seemed like a plan and we were expecting the two of them would be a matched set for a least another ten years or so. Well, one of them started losing weight fast. She went from more than ten pounds to five and a half pounds in just a couple months. We tried everything to get her to eat. Finally the sad day came last month when we knew we had to say goodbye. She was a shelter rescue, had been first found as a kitten, walking down the highway in the dark, in below zero weather and had lost most of one ear to frostbite. She had many weird fears, and signs of numerous injuries of varying age, obvious signs of mistreatment. Well, at least she died being held and loved instead of freezing to death in a ditch somewhere...

So off we went this past Friday to find a new friend for our other cat who has been wandering the house whining and looking for her old friend. We checked out some cat profiles on the humane society's website and had about five potential matches in mind. Cat #1 loved me, but charged at out current cat sending her cowering into her carrier. Cat #2 did the same thing. Cat #3 hissed when we opened her cage door, so we didn't even take her out. Cat #4 had already been adopted earlier in the day so we moved on to cat #5. She loved me, loved our daughter and when it came time to introduce her to our current cat, they just looked at eachother from across the room, laid down and acted bored. Taking that as a good sign we filled out the paperwork and came home with the most beautiful, calm cat whose previous owners had given her the name "Liberty".

Kind of fitting for 4th of July weekend. :teeth:
