Muir is retiring, so I'd expect that that the Chiefs would have to bring in at least one guy as a position coach.
If the Chiefs are promoting OC from within - and it's not Zorn - that leaves guys like Bernie Parmalee (primarily a TE coach everywhere he's been), Richie Anderson (virtually no coaching experience beyond being a WR coach) and Pat Perles (North Dakota State OC). In other words, they make Mo Carthon look like Bill Walsh.

Muir is not retiring.
That is speculation.
He will still be the O-Line coach unless the Chiefs push him out, but is getting demoted from OC.

Bill Muir, last year's offensive coordinator for the #Chiefs, has told the team he's retiring. Story to come at kansascity.com

Interestingly, the Teicher tweet directly following the one about Muir retiring says that he's hearing Zorn will resign if he's not promoted to OC. Like I said earlier though, Zorn is the obvious choice (and only choice) if we promote from within.

From a KC Star article (full article link below):
Another snippet, related to the Zorn comment above:

Crennel has interviewed quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn and Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Al Saunders for the vacant offensive coordinator’s job and said, “I might interview another one or two” before making a decision, perhaps early next week.
Another snippet, related to the Zorn comment above:
Quote
When asked if there were some other assistants who have departed besides Muir and three others who were not retained, Crennel replied: “Not yet … you just don’t know.
“Let’s say, hypothetically, I make (someone) the offensive coordinator … who some guys on the offense might not like, and if they have opportunities, they might say, ‘I want to go someplace else.’ You can’t control it. If those guys don’t have opportunities, then they stay. But I’m not looking to run anybody off.”

If it is Saunders we have to get a better QB. Not need to HAVE too!
