I think it's damn near impossible to to evaluate coaching without the QB.

I think Bellichick without Brady would be viewed much the same as Brian Billick.

I think Tony Dungy without Peyton Manning would be viewed much the same as Herman f**king Edwards.

I've said this before, but I think Peyton Manning would have more than 1 SB win with a stronger coach, and Marty could have been stronger coach.

In the end though, I think the question becomes, would Tom Brady be Tom Brady without Bellichick?

Would Drew Brees be Drew Brees without Sean Payton?

I think the answer to the first question is "No"..

I think the answer to the second question is "Yes".

Eh, I'm not too certain Drew Brees would be a record setting QB without Sean Payton, but your overall point is solid.

Bellichick has been great on keeping his core together without too much turmoil. You do not hear a lot of belly aching coming out of New England. He seems to know when a players usefulness is gone and does not mind getting rid of them once it is gone. Too many coaches and GMs shoot themselves in the foot over player or coach loyalty. It is no place to be stubborn and loyal.

Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.

HC has to be BB, I mean the man is just straight up awesome. 5 Super bowl appearances since 2001, and hasn't had a losing season since 2000 despite losing a TON of nucleus type players. How can anyone argue against him? (Unless you're just a hater) His ability to seemlessly change his team's identity is just unreal.

Past few Chiefs coaches and their QB's:

Schottenheimer (1989-1998): Deberg, Krieg, Montana, Bono, Grbac, Gannon
Cunningham (1999-2000): Grbac
Vermeil (2001-2005): Green
Edwards (2006-2008): Huard, Thigpen

Best two coaches on the list - Schottenheimer and Vermeil. Best 2 QB's on that list are Montana and Green.

Worst coach on the list: Edwards -Two worst Qb's Huard and Thigpen

Of course, you never know. Schottenheimer lets Gannon walk in favor of Grbac, the Raiders (with Gannon) make Jon Gruden a star.

Haley (2008-2011): Cassel
Crennel (2012-???): ???

Who's making who in these scenarios? I think it's crazy to think Crennel lasts more than 3 years if Cassel plays out his contract. How good of a coach Crennel actually is is moot.

Plus with Belichick and Brady they have done it with at least 4 or 5 different OC. I know that Bill prolly calls the plays and draws up the game plan. But 4-5 different OC's has still got to cause some issues. JMO

Nah, it's often just an excuse.

They change OC's, but they've had the same Erhardt-Perkins offense in place since forever. Terminology and concepts didn't change, just the guy calling the plays.

It's the same way with Cassel. He's been in the same offensive system his entire career (Haley and Weis run the same system) even though the play caller has changed, so I don't personally think it's a good excuse.
