Best Coaches in the NFL...?

We just hired Romeo to lead this team (and remain in charge of the defense). We are still looking for an offensive coordinator from outside the current staff. There has been a lot of talk about needing an elite QB to compete at the highest level in the NFL - something I strongly believe in. But we often talk about "great" coaches and GM's as well.
So, the question is, if every team in the NFL had the same roster - who would you want to lead your offense/defense/team? This could be because you think they are great strategically - or otherwise (motivator, talent development, etc...). In other words, if you separate the coach from the roster, who are the best coaches in the NFL (head, OC, or DC) and why? Would Bill Belichick have the same reputation if he didn't have Tom Brady? Jeff Fisher was obviously a hot commodity this offseason, was that deserved? Would the Colts have had such a terrible season if Tony Dungy was there when they lost Manning?
This is something I really haven't thought that much about, I'd just like to hear any thoughts folks have about the strongest coaches out there. If you'd like to talk about terrible coaches, that's cool too.

Nobody gets more out of his team than Belichick.
The team always has glaring holes somewhere, and they still win. No secondary? Matt Cassel at QB? Plus he shows up to work dressed like a hobo, bangs the wives of his enemies, has been caught cheating, and is seemingly immune to criticism for all of this because he wins. He's a personal hero of mine.
For DC... even though this is bad timing after his terrible game-plan, is Lebeau. Innovative and creative DC in a league of imitators who consistently gets the most out of his talent. Loves to bring the heat, but is smart enough to know when to back it off. Fantastic 4 man rush packages. You never know where or how these guys will come. He makes a 4 man rush feel like a blitz.
OC? Sean Payton. Seriously. I know he's a head coach, but c'mon. He has fully unleashed the awesomeness of Drew Brees on the world, and he rides him like a smart coach should ride a great QB. He always utilizes players as they can best be utilized. I don't know of any other coach who puts guys in a better position to use whatever their skillset may be.

Dick LeBeau is the easy choice on D overall, and Sean Payton is a genius too.
edit: i see jonas agrees.

Homer: [reading] "Project Arcturus couldn't have succeeded without you. This will get you a little closer to that dream of yours. It's not the Dallas Cowboys, but it's a start. Drop me a line if you're on the East Coast, Hank Scorpio." Aw, the Denver Broncos!
Marge: I think owning the Denver Broncos is pretty good.
Homer: Yeah, yeah.
Marge: Well, explain to me why it isn't.
Homer: [sighs] You just don't understand football, Marge.

Everyone has their favorites though. Mine's Norv. Simply because he'll keep the Chargers mired in mediocrity as long as he's HC.

I'll give him a few more seasons, but what Harbaugh has done is pretty impressive. The D is dominant and the O doesn't make mistakes. Alex Smith is playing efficiently.
I think Brees is gonna give their D an unpleasant wake-up call tomorrow.

What about a guy like Mike McCarthy? or Tony Dungy? Dungy was regarded as such a strong coach, yet most of the years (in Indy) the offense was absolutely outstanding and the defense always seemed like the weak link - even though Dungy was a "defensive" coach.

Yeah, the problem I have with the Niners and their 13-3 record and vaunted defense, is that they get to clean up against the NFC West (although one loss came to a division foe, it was a close one). They had some good wins this year, but that is a good cushion to have.

The 49ers have had more talent than most of the league for a while. I don't think this year's group is much different than the group they've been trotting our for the past 3 years.
The main difference is that they stopped beating themselves with stupidity, and it certainly correlates with the arrival of Harbaugh.

That's what I meant though (that Singletary was doing a shitty job). Just think about all the high draft picks in SF, Gore, Vernon Davis, Patrick Willis, Justin Smith, etc.... In that division, they should be winning 12 games a year.

I don't think Gore was a very high draft pick. I think he was injured as a senior or something and it hurt his stock.

Also, Justin Smith was a FA pickup. Not sure if BRCM meant Aldon Smith or if he was including him since he was a 4th overall pick in 2001.

I'm sure it's because he was a high draft pick, regardless of who drafted him..

We beat the shit out of that team last season, what a difference the departure of Singletary and the arrival of Harbaugh made.
