yes, you need them for the ruins. not so much to get through it, but you'll need them in the end.

i read somewhere about that happening, and I thought i saw a fix for it on, especially on the pc vesion. Something about being able to use the ~ commands and reset the quest state...

Damn! Well, I'll see how far I can go without them. I really want to finish that quest because I like the storyline.

Well, I went through the dwarven ruins by myself and the bug somehow fixed itself because Karliah and Brynjolf wound up being there when I was fighting Mercer. So I was able to finish that part of the quest.

OK. I fought Alduin the first time with Paarthurnax. How long do I have before I get to the end of the game? I want to be able to have a majority of these other quests done before I get to the very end.

you've got as long as you want...do anything you want to as long as it's not attached to the main questline...there's no set time on the main at all..

I understand that. I just wanted to know how many more parts of the main quest do I have left over.

if i remember correct...once you've fought Alduin, you're half way there...there is a part coming up where you can either continue exploring, or go on the main quest...once you're in the quest, you're there to the finish.

OK. Then, I think I'll hold off on doing the main quest for a while. I want to find all the words of power so I can get all 20 shouts. Plus, I've got other smaller quests to do for the Thieves Guild and the Companions and a few other ones.

oh, if you're worried about the game bein over after killing him, don't. it allows you to continue the game once you've beaten him and complete anything that you need...not to mention, two of the final shous are in the last quest...

That's good to know. But, I think I'm still going to hold off on doing more of the main quest for a while. I still have the rest of the civil war to complete and a bunch of other quests I want to do.

When I first got dragonrend, I thought it was going to deal damage to alduin. So I kept hitting him with it and wondered why his health wasn't going down. I learned afterwards what dragonrend actually did. I did like it that paarthurnax was helping, though. Please don't tell me that he dies in the end. I like him too much.

well...at the risk of spoiling the plot...Paarthurnax's fate is yours to decide...just like everything else in the game.

I love the background dialogue in this game. I walked into the Silver Blood Inn and heard this:

Son: Why do you argue so much?
Father: We don't argue. We just talk...loudly
Son: Will I have to "talk loudly" to my wife?

And yesterday I heard the same man and his wife "talking loudly" where she says something and he goes, "what did I do? I'm just sitting here." And she replies, "Yes you're 'just sitting there' when you should be serving the customers their drinks."

Hey CIA! Did you happen to do that one quest for Meridia. I think it was called "Breaking Dawn" or something like that, where you go into her temple and clear it of all the corrupted spectres and the necromancer?

Ok, how do you keep from dying when she drops you out of the sky after getting dawnbreaker? I looked at that one web site and it says something about using "god mode" or something like that? I have no idea what that is.

uh...i didn't die...she put me down on the ground and i moved on...that's kinda odd...

I can't finish that quest because I fall out of the sky and land on the mountain, instead of the landing where the statue is on and die every time.

well...thats odd...glad it's a pc only issue. at least that way you have a chance in hell of being able to finish it by bypassing the death portion of it...
