Okay, this has me really irritated. Read today where Umenyiora is upset about his contact, which he signed, which pays him over 7 MILLION this year and next as well. Bless his heart. Maybe we all just bow down and take up a collection for this poor under-paid soul. Acts like this really don't do much to elicit sympathy after all the bullshit from BOTH sides during the lock-out. SEVEN MILLION and he is unhappy?!?!
What the Hell?!?!

It's not a money thing, it's an ego thing. These guys want to be paid the same or better than their peers. That way they don't get made fun of at the strip club.
My name is Maximus Decimus Warthog, member of HomeoftheChiefs.com, former season ticket holder of the lower level , loyal servant to the true coach, Martimus Schottenheimer. Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.

It's like this: Agents make money only when their guys signs a deal. Agents make a very small cut, as the NFLPA has limits on what they can charge percentage wise. So agents are always scouring their portfolio to see which of their clients outperformed their contract by market standards.
Tamba Hali's deal averages 12 million a year. That's a big disparity. Osi is a top flight DE who could command that much on the open market. So the agent starts spinning webs (starting last season) to get Osi convinced of a big time big money deal being on the way. He gets his hopes all up... then he PULLS THE RUG OUT FROM UNDER HIM and blames the management. Now Osi is offended on a personal level as well and is more easily manipulated.
I should have been an agent. DANCE PUPPETS DANCE!!!
Osi's deal, for what it's worth, is about half as much as Hali is set to make.
