Rhode Island gave #4 Pittsburgh a run for their money last night to open up the season, Pittsburgh won by 8. Most teams tip off for the first time on Friday

I hate waiting for Mizzou to play. Everyone else in the Big XII has already had and won a game or two. There's a big game on Tuesday for K-State against Virginia Tech. There's a couple more interesting games coming up this week, like Ohio State and Florida or Illinois and Texas.

Still, on top of being overshadowed by football, this is easily the most boring part of the NCAA basketball season.

Louisville v. Georgetown ought to be good.

Texas controls their own destiny. If they beat A&M tonight, they could realistically run the table. They are probably going to be a 1 or a 2 seed in the tournament if that's the case. I don't know how much they could really trip up even if they lose tonight.

GO MIZZOU!

They seem to have a really easy first half of the schedule.

Here is hoping they don't f**k it up

Anyone check out that UNC/Michigan St. game? They are playing on an air craft carrier. I believe it is the first college basketball game outside. Pretty amazing sight.

Why is no one talking college basketball??? The Chiefs stink again and there is no NBA for those who prefer that.

Last night we saw #9 Pittsburgh lose by 10 to Long Beach State IN Pittsburgh.

It's going to be a special year in college basketball because there looks to be about 3-4 elite teams with everything else looking pretty competitive.

Also to not the Missouri Valley is off to a fast start with conference wins from the following:
@ Nevada (Mo state) picked to win the WAC
vs. Butler (Evansville) in final four last 2 years
@ Old Dominion (UNI) always a top level mid major school, great at home
vs. Iowa State (Drake) Iowa State looks better than they have for a few year.
@ Arkansas State (Mo State) Ark State is predicted to win the Sun Belt, also went 13-0 at home last year.
@ UAB (Creighton) made the tourney last year, tough place to play on the road.

Notable games within the next few days
Wichita St vs Colorado (tonight)
Wichita St vs #15Alabama/Maryland (depending on bracket)
Drake vs. Ole Miss
Creighton @ Iowa

I had fun the other night watching the KU-UK game on JustinTV. It has a chat feature so that you can chat while watching the game. No one there could figure out what school I represented dispite my many jabs at Jayhawk fans. The first half had a lot of loud, pompous KU fans spouting off, but midway through the second half, the Beakers were gone and it was mainly UK v. Duke v. UNC fans. I was still there to cut down the Jayhawks though. By the end they were all guessing I was from UNI or VCU or Bucknell, even had one guess that I was a K State fan. When it was time to leave I gave them the M-I-Z chant and they figured it out.

My name is Maximus Decimus Warthog, member of HomeoftheChiefs.com, former season ticket holder of the lower level , loyal servant to the true coach, Martimus Schottenheimer. Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.

Haha I love it.

The bar I go to in Chicago for the Chiefs game is a KU bar. It gets awkward sometimes when people start talking KU there.

I've always been surprised that this forum (and before it the Huddle) didn't have more KU fans gawking about, at least openly anyway. Those interested in college sports on here seem to be mostly Mizzou and K-State.

Dom alone gives Missouri State a bigger presence on this board than Kansas.
