The Matt Cassel Experience

Were those 3 straight drops really the decidng factor in today's game? I don't think they really were, but it sure have been nice to have that 7 on the board just to find out. What I'm more concerned about is that it's a tendency we can't tolerate. We can't have our WRs dropping the ball on the few opportunities we have.
Lastly, let's cool it about Pioli "manning up". Yeah, he knows he made a mistake. Clark knows he made a mistake. Most of KC knows he made a mistake. What do you want the guy to do, go on TV with Jack in the Box and admit it? Wear sackcloth and ashes on the steps of City Hall? I'm going to chalk that one up to another first year blunder and move on. I think he knows he has to bring another QB in next year, but until then, we're pretty much stuck with MC.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong. And I'm sure some of you will tell me I am. But I'm not. Peace out, y'all!!

I think we need more tackle depth, but I'm really happy with how Richardson has played.
Plus, he's still ascending as a player.

Why not? Did you see what Waters did to Freeney while he was there? it looked like they were playing patty cake, cuz Waters just kept pushing off and keeping him back...and Asamoah was playing LG GREAT.
Richardson...it's hard to tell with, since he's been sharing time and not really spending a lot of time in the position...but he's VERY inconsistent...one play he's got that side locked down, the next he completely misses his guy...

Yeah I thought Waters did look ok at LT. It was kind of funny how he was owning Freeney. Our line did a really good job against their great pass rushers.

Perfect example from the Colts game...4th and 2, he rolls out and tries to force a pass to a COMPLETELY covered Bowe...when Moeaki was behind Bowe in the back of the end zone, had his coverage beaten BIG time...half a second longer, and Moeaki would have had a guaranteed TD...

Yeah, if you look REALLY close you can tell someone shopped the last point in the graphic. Whoever did it nailed the font perfectly though

I do not think the onside kick was a mistake. Honestly, the Colts could have moved the ball downfield either way. The benefit of stealing a possession away from them greatly outweighed the risk of giving them a short field. I like that aggression, more often than not.
However, the call to go for it on 4th early was a mistake, and that's not just hindsight speaking. Leaving points on the field is a mistake against the Colts. Yeah, it might have been the difference if you make it, but I think you can do alot more to frustrate Peyton by keeping him off the field and consistently chipping away at the score. As it was he looked flabbergasted by the 3rd. It might have been entirely different if he went into the 4th quarter down by 3.
Also, I thought they should have went for it on the last 4th down. A TD on that drive does alot more to keep the game alive than a FG does. This was a strangely conservative approach to try to extend the game considering that Todd Haley is known for being aggressive. I'm not being inconsistent either, as it just plain makes sense to be more aggressive towards the end of the game.
From a game management perspective, that's 3 understandable mistakes that each could have paid off big, so I don't have that much problem with it, especially considering how well we out-schemed the Colts. Still, we could have had a better result with either better decisions or better play by a few players. We made Peyton throw 3 picks (though we only caught one). We threw a go ahead TD in the 3rd Quarter (though Bowe dropped it).
This was a winnable game. The Colts are a better team than us, but we did most of what we needed to do to win. Overall, I like what I see for our future. We'll be a playoff team this year and a potential contender moving forward from there.

I'm not convinced the Colts are a better team than us with all of their injuries..
We played in the Dome and as soon as we tied the game, the refs did what they always do for saint Melonhead... started throwing nonsensical PI calls until he got more points.
After watching that I"m positive we win against them in Arrowhead.

Well, this is going on the third season I've been saying this.
He doesn't have the hands, the speed, or the crisp route running that a #1 WR should have. Two of those are a reflection of work ethic. Herm artificially inflated his stats by pumping him the ball. We threw to Bowe more often than Tony. He's a 50% pass catcher who drops every meaningful pass that has ever gone his way.
Bowe has lost six games by dropping go-ahead TD's in his career. He always does it. That's the only thing he's consistent about... dropping meaningful passes.

Bowe and Cassel:

It's so damn different though.
Cassel just stinks. I almost feel bad trashing the guy because he's busting his ass and working as hard as he can. He's just... so limited.
Bowe, on the other hand, can be so much more than he is. Even if he lacks that elite speed, if he had the hands and route running he'd still be a legit #1 with his ability to run after the catch. He's still fast enough to get behind guys with double-moves. Bowe COULD be a #1. He never will be though. It's frustrating in the same way watching Derrick Johnson for the past 3-4 years was so frustrating. You always want to believe he can turn the corner... like DJ appears to have done.

I love the way Dorsey has progressed, but if I had to do over again; I'd stay the hell away from that LSU/BCS team.

Yeah...
There's been a study that proved that late round small school WR's have a significantly higher success rate and a significantly lower bust rate than 1st round WR's from BCS schools.
I believe it was the only position to have this disparity.
