This early? No. In February or March? Maybe. It depends upon the circumstances.

Considering his specialty is supposed to be recruiting, the fact that he seems to be doing a great job coaching these guys up, I might be more apt to give him kudos later. Maybe he'll struggle in close games where the outcome is dependent on his set plays. We'll see. Either way, next year will say more about what kind of coach we have than this year.

I'm also worried about the lack of quality big men for the Tigers. Moore is a borderline center at 6'9" and a great defender, and Ratliff is a great all-around offensive big guy, but outside of that they don't have much.

They are not Haith's players, that is for sure, but you have to give credit to Haith in that these players seem to play better in his system than they did for Anderson. I never thought that we had the right players for what Anderson wanted to do. Got to give it to Haith in re-evaluating the players and making a system work around them. I for one hated MA's run and gun style, it drove me nuts. We had no defense whatsoever in that thing and never clicked on offense in the '40 minutes of Hell'. These guys were suited for what we are doing now and Haith saw that. Good for him.

Whew.

MU gave us a scare tonight, but managed to pull it out late in the game.

Tried to blow it. They need to learn that when you are up 14 on a good team, you have to play differently than you would against a cupcake. We had that lead then would drive down the court and shoot a quick three, and miss.

Mizzou plays against Oklahoma Tuesday night to open up conference play. Oklahoma has been a surprising 10-2 and should not be overlooked. They haven't had the hardest schedule, but neither has MU.

If this game were in Norman, the jaded Missouri fan in me would be picking a loss. Since it's at the Zou, Missouri damn well better win this.

Okie had much easier early schedule, Mizzou rolls. My first worry is at Manhatten.

I was including a "look ahead" factor to K-State as part of the reason the OU game could be a trap game.

On paper, you're definitely right. K-State ought to be a huge game in determining momentum heading into the meat of the conference schedule. We're also sandwiched between Kansas and Baylor on their schedule. I'm by no means rooting for KU to beat them, but if K-State gets off to a slow start in conference that could seriously hamper their shot at competing for the conference title.

Well down by 2 at the half against ISU. Come on mu get it together.

Doesn't help that ISU is 8-12 from the 3 land and hit a half court shot at the buzzer

And yet, we still prevailed.

I wonder if Mizzou can expect this for the rest of the season, bad Big 12 refs. They could have a chip on their shoulder with Mizzou leaving the conference and refs have more influence in basketball more than any other sport. i didn't see the game. but i did hear others talk about the bad reffing last night and the uneven amount of fouls. There could be something to it. If the Big 12 conference disolves, so does the livelyhood of some of the refs.

The officiating was bad, but unless it continues and remains tilted against Mizzou, I wouldn't entertain that thought.

College basketball refs often get caught up in the energy of the home crowd though. I hadn't seen Iowa State that excited about basketball in years, so I wouldn't be surprised if that led to an extra call or two.

KU put a hurting on Baylor. Looks like they are hitting their stride.

Shit.

I want to say MU is deserving of their #5 ranking but I fear we are just too inconsistant. We will find out by the end of next week!

I don't think the main problem is consistency. Really, if nothing else statistically we're one of the most consistent teams out there, and it's only looking worse because we're finally facing better talent in conference.

I think the main problem is facing long, talented teams. Unfortunately that means teams like Baylor, K-State, and KU will give Mizzou fits. Our best hope of beating those types of teams is either that they screw up schematically (possible against Baylor) or they get into foul trouble with their big guys. Or, that our home court's energy is enough to pull us through.

What happens next Saturday in Waco will go a long way in telling us what we need to know about Mizzou.

It was said after kU's win over Baylor on Monday in Lawrence that now the jay hawks had the inside position on winning the conference. I believe that position belongs to MU now. kU still has to go to Baylor, MU, and KState. That's what you get for having a easy schedule in the first part of the season.

I was practically screaming that at the radio BEFORE this win.

Now MU just has Lawrence left as far as the toughest road games. KU's closest thing to a signature win on the road is the game they just won against Texas. KU actually has those road games in a 4 game stretch too (@Mizz, @Baylor, OK St, and @KSU). They will be fortunate if they don't drop at least two of those games.

Should be interesting to see where they move MU, KU, and Baylor in the polls considering some of the teams that lost this past week. MU should be at least #3. KU will probably be #5. Baylor won't drop as far as they could because their losses were to top 10 teams and other people losing. They'll probably end up somewhere around #7.

I think Mizzou will be #2, 'cuse #3, KU #4 and MURRAY STATE #5( :az: ) Realistically no, but they will move up from 10.
