If their young talent continues to mature (Robinson, Chandler, Lee) and you add the likes of LeBron & Chris Bosh in there, that will be beyond a dangerous squad come 2010.

They will most likely have to get rid of Robinson and Lee in order to have enough cap space to sign two players, but Chandler will still be in the fold on his rookie deal.

They are trying to figure it all out this week (Steph, Walsh, Players Assoc.) to see if a buyout can be worked out. But the Knicks should just pay him to stay home until they can trade him. I know most people figure "why would anyone trade for a $20 million dollar waste of space?" But his expiring contract potentially could be very appealing to a team that wants money to spend this coming season. Sure, everyone is eyeing 2010, but SOMEONE needs to spend money for next season. So if the Knicks can find that eam, they can take back 2 years worth of contracts worth 20 million a year in return for Marbury who comes off the books after this season. For their troubles the Knicks will try to get as many draft picks as possible, even if it's just a second rounder. Any value for Marbury at this point is a home run.

I love the top banner. The picture of MSG looks great.
I used to despise the Knicks back in the day when they had escalated rivalries with the Heat & Pacers, but nowadays, I enjoy watching their games if I'm home sitting around.
Even though they got rid of two better than average players in Z-Bo & Crawford for cap reasons, I still find them to be an enjoyable team to watch (obviously DA has a lot to do with that).
I'm a Big Al fan for sure, and I've always liked Tim Thomas (representing Paterson, NJ!)
I was critical of the Duhon signing in the offseason, as I didn't see him to be a starting PG in the NBA, but I would say he's proven me wrong up until this point. He seems like a veteran out there, knowing when to take his own shot and when to look for his teammates.
David Lee is pretty awesome as well. His heart and tenacity on the court are characteristics that aren't shown as often in the NBA it seems, so it's a pleasure to watch someone like him go to work.
Wilson Chandler seems like he'll mature into a good player in the league. It's evident that he's still making rookie mistakes at times out there, but I assume that has to do with the lack of PT he saw earlier on in his career.
Compared to the 90s Knicks who had the likes of Ewing, Oakley, LJ, Charlie Ward, John Starks, & Chris Childs (wasn't too crazy about any of those guys as a youngling), I can actually stand to watch the current Knicks. It's obvious they're waiting till 2010 to shake up their roster, but it's still nice to see how hard D'Antoni has these guys playing on a usual basis.

nice post man! you definitely know your Knicks ball. We'd love to have you over there as well, sign up!
Personally I think we got the better talent and cap situation in both deals. Al is just as streaky as Jamal, but I like his game and size. No reason he can't be a deep double-double guy every night. We definitely lost out talents wise on Z-Bo but I think he's pretty even to what Al gives you, and clearly DLee has stepped up huge.
Duhon I love, and was really excited at the time we signed him. Take a look at his wiki page and some of his college accolades. The kid is a player. Great head on his shoulders. The D'A system is definitely inflating his stats, but good for him!

I'm happy he's getting a chance to display his talent with NYK, where it looks like he can continue to prosper for the next couple of years (I imagine his contract runs out after the 09-10 season right?)
And I just registered over at HOTK. I'm a Houston Rockets fan, but I hope that doesn't bother the users there if I try to talk NYK basketball with them.
Also, what's your username @ HOTK, if you don't mind me asking.

Haha, that shooting performance in Game 7 along with Hakeem's last second block on Starks in Game 6 were great Rockets memories.
And thanks again. As I've been lurking, it definitely seems like the people there are very knowledgeable about their Knickerbockers.
It's odd however to see how many don't really love David Lee as much as other teams' fans do. On the Rockets forum I go to, a lot of people talk about how much they'd love to see some Leebounds in Houston...But I guess with Bosh coming in 2010, Lee wouldn't be needed in New York. lol

Sure, BCF. I'm relatively sure I saw it one of those NBA: Where Amazing Happens commercials a while back.
As for today's game, what a heartbreaker. I had a bad feeling that Portland would make a comeback when they started chipping away at the thirteen point lead, but for it to end with an easy layup for Roy at the buzzer, it sucked.
I still can't fathom why NYK didn't foul Roy on his way to the hoop, considering they had a foul to give. I didn't catch DA's post game interview, but he should've been drilling the fact that they could foul with 4.3 seconds left into the players' heads.
And even worse was the lackadaisical (to quote Clyde) defense from the Knicks. It's obvious that D-Lee was trying to shy away from making contact with Roy to avoid putting him at the line, but he basically just let him into the hole even easier by side stepping Roy.
As well, even though he shows good defensive habits sometimes, I don't think Jeffries was the right guy to put on Roy.He'd been on the bench for a long time before that, and it was hard to ask him to keep up with Roy at such a hectic point in the game.
Sorry, BCF. Must've been a tough, yet nothing you haven't seen before loss from the Knicks in recent years.
