Tennessee DT Dan Williams On The Chiefs Radar

Tennessee defensive tackle Dan Williams is one of the few players that are considered a candidate to be a nose tackle in a 3-4 defense.
At the NFL Combine, he interviewed with the Chiefs, including defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel. He called that interview one of his "memorable" ones, according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.
"I think I fit in with both [3-4 and 4-3] defenses,"Williams siad. "I played both when I was in school. I enjoy playing a three-technique or a nose or a one-technique defensive tackle. I just want to play football. It doesn't matter what kind of scheme a team runs. I just want to play the game."
He's 6'4" and 329 pounds so the size appears to be there.
He's setting up visits this week and, while the Chiefs haven't been reported as one of them yet, his list is heavy on 3-4 teams.
He's meeting with the Chargers today and the Patriots later this week.
Will the Chiefs get a closer look at him? My guess would be yes.

Personally, I'd be happy with either Dan Williams or Terrence Cody. Still, everybody keeps talking about getting a NT with our earlier 2nd round pick, but we might not get the opportunity with NE and SD picking later in the first (22nd and 28th respectively).

We won't have the opportunity to get Williams in the second round, but I can't see either SD or NE taking Cody that early. His stock seems to be rising but I still think he goes in round two. Either way, if we want Willams it would have to be in the first round. Who knows, it may be at number 5.

I wonder how many trades we will see this year with there being no cap...
I can't remember who it was but I remember some guy (probably on the NFL Network) saying how an uncapped year could have the opposite effect of what people are expecting. While there is no cap ceiling, there is also no cap floor, meaning a team can spend as little money as they want to. It will be interesting come draft day.
