Terrence Cody slims down to 354

When we last mentioned former Alabama defensive tackle Terrence Cody, he was weighing in at 370 pounds at the Senior Bowl.
He's been losing weight at a rate of half a pound a day since then.
Cody weighed in at 354 pounds on Saturday, a weight that doesn't exactly make him svelte, but does indicate that he's been taking his diet and conditioning seriously over the last month.
Gil Brandt, the longtime VP of player personnel for the Cowboys who now analyzes the draft for NFL.com, thinks teams are going to move Cody up on their draft boards as a result of his weigh-in.
"Terrence Cody just made himself lots of money. I'll tell you what. It's a seven-figure number," Brandt said. "The Brinks truck just stopped at his house."

My name is Maximus Decimus Warthog, member of HomeoftheChiefs.com, former season ticket holder of the lower level , loyal servant to the true coach, Martimus Schottenheimer. Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.

It isn't weight that makes big NTs successful, it's strength. You don't have to be just unmovable, because you're going up against guys who regularly bench press more than any even remotely healthy person can weigh. If your plan is to anchor your fat ass down in one spot, you're going to get rudely thrown to the turf.
Assuming he's losing the weight in a healthy way (1/2 pound a day is nothing too drastic to suggest otherwise), his stock should be shooting up. His weight concern was the only reason he was thought of as a 2nd rounder, not his play on the field. Hell, he even carried his weight really well at 370, despite having a physique not unlike "badly melted chocolate" according to Eddie Kennison. If he continues to improve his conditioning and we like what we hear in interviews, we might have to seriously consider him at 5th overall.
