Good stuff.

Though inciting faux outrage is nothing new for anyone in the mainstream media, which has practically turned into nothing but tabloid news. Actually, Jason Whitlock wrote a great article on a similar subject as it related to the Tiger Woods fiasco and the 'outrage' that followed.

I've been contemplating writing a Tiger/Sean Hannity article myself.

This was your best work yet. Jack starts his crap on 810 immediatly after the game. I have no problem with the fan or the coach in this matter. Harry really needs to retire.

and regaurding your title. I thought you were gonna talk about the missed timed fly over during the National Anthem. It was about 30 seconds to early. lol

I'm not sure "reaching one's boiling point is a justifiable act." I mean, homicide is still a crime when not premeditated. So are assault and battery. I think it might be more accurate to say that it's understandable, but that doesn't mean it can always be justified to the point of no consequence.

If Haley flipped off a fan, he's a douche. The fact that someone may have said something even more douchey to get that reaction might be understandable, but that doesn't mitigate his behavior to the point of zero accountability.

Marge: I think owning the Denver Broncos is pretty good.
Homer: Yeah, yeah.
Marge: Well, explain to me why it isn't.
Homer: [sighs] You just don't understand football, Marge.

Well, I covered the issue of violence vs nonviolence, so your first paragraph is moot. As for your second paragraph, if you truly believe what you say, never, ever, EVER flip somebody off again or speak disparagingly of them under your breath. That, or accept that sometimes people say shit that warrants verbal retaliation.

All of this is moot anyway. One of the guys over at Planet found video evidence of Haley doing the deed:

That was sort of my point.

I can understand why Haley did it (if true), but I can also understand why he'd catch some guff for it.

I'm rude to people often. I'm not always proud of that fact, however, and I'm not surprised when my actions have consequences (nor do I generally argue that those consequences aren't warranted). I'm not sure that I agree with the proposition that Haley's alleged actions shouldn't have consequences.

I can make accusations all day, and they aren't true.

I'd stick with there being consequences for actions. Not consequences for 'possible actions based on the allegation of 3 fans".

i totally agree with the whole "fake outrage" premise, which in my opinion is simply a by-product of the ridiculous, hypersensitive PC environment this country has sunk itself into for the last decade or so. honestly, i couldn't care less if Haley flipped off a fan for whatever reason, it doesn't mean a thing to me. i have more than enough real outrage towards Haley for his miserable job as a head coach to keep me busy.
