Royals sign Kendall to two-year deal

The Royals reached an agreement Friday afternoon with free-agent catcher Jason Kendall on a two-year deal.
Financial terms were not announced, but the value is believed to be roughly $4 million with incentives.
Kendall, 35, is a 14-year veteran who batted .241 with a .331 on-base percentage last season for Milwaukee. He career totals are .290 and .369 in 1,967 games with the Pirates, A’s, Cubs and Brewers.
The Royals turned to Kendall as their top target earlier this week after veteran Ivan Rodriguez reached a two-year agreement with Washington for $6 million.
The signing clears the way for the Royals to allow John Buck to become a free agent by not offering him a contract before the 11 p.m. Saturday deadline.

My name is Maximus Decimus Warthog, member of HomeoftheChiefs.com, former season ticket holder of the lower level , loyal servant to the true coach, Martimus Schottenheimer. Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.
