My name is Maximus Decimus Warthog, member of HomeoftheChiefs.com, former season ticket holder of the lower level , loyal servant to the true coach, Martimus Schottenheimer. Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.

Basically they are leaking information just to make Mangino look bad, from what I understand.

Now this investigation could be focusing on athletic director Lew Perkins.
NBC Sports is reporting that Perkins could be on the hot-seat for under-mining Mangino.
Perkins met with the players without the coach knowing about it.
It’s believed that Perkins or someone associated with his office has been leaking information that under-cuts the head coach.
Mangino and Perkins are neighbors on a golf course and at one time could be seen sitting on each other's decks smoking cigars -but not anymore.
While some people are under the impression that Mangino may not be with the team anymore in Lawrence, there are some who think Perkins may be out of a job.
Another report was circulating Thursday that Mark Mangino would be fired Friday. Mike Strauss of the KU Athletic Department said there's no truth to the reports. It's a complete rumor.
NBC Action Sports is continuing to follow this story.

Mississippi coach Houston Nutt says he "appreciates the interest Kansas showed in our staff," but he will not pursue the Jayhawks' coaching vacancy.
Nutt and Ole Miss athletic director Pete Boone issued statements Tuesday after media reports that Nutt was interested in the Kansas job.
Nutt says he's staying put with the Rebels, who he has guided to consecutive Cotton Bowl appearances in his two seasons in Oxford. Kansas coach Mark Mangino resigned last week in the midst of an investigation into his treatment of players.
Nutt is 17-8 in two seasons in Oxford and has guided Ole Miss (8-4) to consecutive eight-win seasons for the first time since 1989-90. The Rebels play No. 21 Oklahoma State in the Jan. 2 Cotton Bowl.
