Just heard on radio 980am that it is official that Kansas City was awarded the Major League Baseball All Star Game for 2012. I had heard the rumor earlier from a Boston newspaper, but I guess they are now reporting it as fact.

My name is Maximus Decimus Warthog, member of HomeoftheChiefs.com, former season ticket holder of the lower level , loyal servant to the true coach, Martimus Schottenheimer. Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.

Red Sox miss out on 2012 All-Star bid
By Sean McAdam

The Red Sox have struck out in their attempt to bring the All-Star Game back to Boston for the second time in 13 years.
The Sox, who hosted the game in 1999, had been seeking to host the mid-summer event in 2012 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park. Instead, a baseball source confirms, the 2012 game will be held in Kansas City, where Kauffman Stadium recently underwent a major renovation.
MLB typically awards the game to cities and host teams with new ballparks or renovated facilities.
Red Sox ownership is said to be disappointed with the decision by Major League Baseball, but refused comment.
The 1999 event was one of the most memorable in recent history, highlighted by one of the last public appearances by Red Sox Hall of Famer Ted Williams. Williams sat in a cart on the pitcher's mound and was surrounded by All-Stars who paid tribute to him.
A second source said the Red Sox still plan a number of events to mark Fenway's centennial in 2012.
The All-Star game will be held in Anaheim in 2010 and Phoenix in 2011. An official announcement on Kansas City hosting the 2012 game is expected no later than next month's winter meetings.

If I can't get to the game, I'm going to try and get to the HR derby.
