Nice read NK. As a big nerd, I appreciate the stats used to demonstrate your point about Cassel targeting/not targeting Bowe.

As I've said several times, I don't get to watch most of the games, so I need someone else to let me know the answer: Is Bowe drawing doubleteams - and hence is not open? Is that the reason? Cassel has some nice plays today where he let Bowe just go up and after the ball. Obviously, Fitzgerald and Moss do that extremely well. Warner merely has to get it in Fitz' vicinity for him to come down with a 20+ yard pass. On a side note, listening to Mitch and Len today made it seem that there were quite a few WR drops, yet again.

Good read NK. I agree that DJ should start over Williams. It sucks that we're stuck with Mike Brown for the rest of the season.

I only saw the second half of the game but Cassel either is still not in Rhythm with his wr's (over/under throwing them) or they are dropping the passes I like to thank a big part is that he is still over/under throwing them. The one that almost got intercepted could have been a Bowe TD if he would have thrown the ball up and not directly at the jacks players....lucky that one of them tried to knock it down or it was an interception.....

Someone brought up that Bowe only seems to get targeted in the No Huddle, a situation where Haley has no control. I think he's being purposely excluded.

And hell we KNOW DJ is getting the shaft.

I am really starting to hate everything about this new regime.

That's a pretty strong assumption. What would the motive behind that be? Perhaps Bowe is more motivated during crunch time, or the defense (since we are always behind) is in a bit looser coverage playing prevent? IMO, if Haley didn't want Bowe playing, he wouldn't be playing. If he didn't want him on the team, he'd release him. I understand the frustration and confusion sometimes about why the offense is so inconsistent and lackluster but I think that's a stretch, at best.

Shouldn't the entire offense feel it's crunch time? While Cassel seems to have some problems with the long ball, it's not entirely his fault. Poor guy hasn't had that much practice at winding up and letting it fly. At least not to guys who will hang on to the ball.
And yes, DJ IS getting the shaft. It makes you wonder what would have happened to Jared Allen if he was still here. Or Smith, or DT, or a host of others that made the Chiefs so great.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong. And I'm sure some of you will tell me I am. But I'm not. Peace out, y'all!!

Yeah, they should be - but I don't know what motivates Bowe to perform. And I'm not accusing Bowe of underperforming or being lazy, etc... I was just posing a potential reason why Bowe gets targeted more (if he does) during the two minute situations on the field. Also, I dont' know if you've seen this from Haley, but he's said this multiple times, and again yesterday after the game:

Quote

Q: What is it about Matt Cassel? It seems when his back is against the wall he seems to make throws that he doesn’t make earlier.

HALEY: “I don’t know if that’s a Matt thing. I think the guys in general when their backs were against the wall three times this year they’ve shown a propensity to make some plays. Now, we’ve got to figure out that our backs are against the wall all the time then and it should feel like it’s against the wall. If I had an answer for you right now I don’t think I’d be feeling the way I’m feeling.”
