Scott has the Chiefs selecting ninth. I think it will be much earlier than that.
9 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: SEAN WEATHERSPOON, OLB, MISSOURI
Scouting Report
Many thought the Chiefs were going to select Aaron Curry with the #3 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft but they instead opted to go the veteran route at linebacker with Mike Vrabel and Zach Thomas. Unfortunately Thomas didn't even make the opening day roster and that left the Chiefs pretty thin at inside linebacker, especially since pending free agent Derrick Johnson has been a frequent inhabitant of Todd Haley's doghouse. On the face Missouri's Sean Weatherspoon wouldn't appear to be an ideal fit for a 3-4 defense but the same was said of Patrick Willis and Jerod Mayo and they seem to be doing okay. A true playmaker who is always around the ball, Weatherspoon is the total package and possesses everything you look for in a linebacker from both a physical tool and intangibles standpoint. Weatherspoon might be a slight reach here but make no mistake about it he is legitimately a fringe Top 10 talent and Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli showed last year that he isn't afraid to defy conventional thinking on Draft Day. It should be noted that this spot would have belonged to Boston College's Mark Herzlich but in May he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that wiped out his 2009 season and clouded his future.

IMO, Spoon is a great player.....but there is no way an OLB in a 3-4 should rate this high of a selection. It just isn't as critical a position as ILB in that scheme.
Since Pioli seems bound and determined to migrate to the 3-4...(Dorsey isn't a great fit either for that scheme BTW)...
I could see them going with Eric Berry to get a difference maker in the secondary (it worked well with Brian Dawkins for Denver)..or trading down a bit and landing a NT like Terrence Cody.
