My kid, the middle linebacker, intercepted a screen pass, ran it back for a 60 yard touchdown, the first score of the game, and we roll 46-0. The team is now ranked #2 in the state. Unfortunately, the number 1 team in the state is in our conference.

I think I type this stuff for my own posterity, but oh well. We did finally face the number 1 team in the state 2 Fridays ago and actually beat them 48-32. The other team had been averaging 58 points a game and giving up 7 a game. So that was good. My son had 15 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 forced fumble (one of the fumbles he caused). It was cool listening to it on the radio because they kept saying how he was all over the place. My kid also plays on the offensive line and that line has not given up a sack all season, and didn't give one up last season, despite our school leading the state in pass attempts.

Anyway, we are now the new #1 in the state and we won again last Friday night to go to 7-0. A win on Friday night gives us our first outright conference title since 1995. Pretty cool stuff.

Nah, if I get bored enough I'll read this stuff.

But, it sounds like your kid kicks ass. You must be proud.

I do apologize for that I have not been here as much as I used to, but things have been extremely busy here for me and my life in general. With that being said, I am a volunteer coach/video coordinator for the Basehor-Linwood High School in Basehor, KS. We just finished a 9-0 record with a 3-0 record in district play, defeating Perry-Lecompton High School which that game was on 610 Sports, if I am not mistaken.

So we now play this Tuesday against Hiawatha @ Basehor, and I am looking forward to that.

It's great to be a part of that kind of a season. Good job Coach!

Our kids just finished the regular season 10-0 and still ranked number 1 in the state. Just like Coach's team, they won their division making that the 10th straight district title in a row for the boys (that includes football, basketball, baeball, and track) since 2009. Since it is a small school, most boys play in all the sports, so it's quite an accomplishment.

The teams still in the playoffs after winning two games last week. Warthog Jr. at linebacker had 15 tackles and 2 sacks in the first game and 16 tackles and 2 sacks in the second. Yeah, he's pumped up.

We lost in the Quarterfinals, but my kid pulled in some post season hardware which made everything a little better. He got All Conference 1st team Linebacker and Offensive Line 1st team, Conference Defensive MVP, All District 1st team linebacker, Missouri Football Coaches Association All State Linebacker 1st team, Central Missouri Dream Team and Dream Team defensive player of the year. The great thing is that he is just a Junior and has one more season. He still says he would trade all the trophies and patches for going one game further in the playoffs.

So, honest question. Obviously your kid is pretty good at small school ball. Do you see him playing some college football in a couple years? Even if it's just at the Division II level or JUCO or something?

He has a good shot at Division II. The players that have been standouts in our conference tend to end up at UCM, Northwest Missouri, Pitt State, etc. Although we did have an Offensive lineman that did end up with Missouri a few years ago and was a 3 year starter for the Chase Daniel Mizzou teams. He was signed by Carolina in the NFL last year, but I do not think he is still on the roster.
