Lions Meet With Aaron Curry’s Agents
Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 18, 2009, 7:20 p.m.

Wake Forest top-ranked linebacker Aaron Curry’s agents met with Detroit Lions team president Tom Lewand today at a minicamp practice, according to Nicholas J. Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press.

Michael Sullivan and Andy Ross, who represent the Dick Butkus Award winner, were reportedly in Detroit to discuss a prospective contract for Curry with team officials.

However, this development doesn’t necessarily mean that Curry will emerge as their pick since the Lions have said they’re going to talk with the agents for the other candidates to be picked No. 1 overall: University of Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford and Baylor offensive tackle Jason Smith.

When asked what the agents’ presence at practice meant to the team’s draft plans, Lions General Manager Martin Mayhew replied: “It means we’re talking to them, which we said we would do.”

Mayhew declined comment when asked if he had met with agent Tom Condon, who represents Stafford and Smith. Per the report, Condon has apparently been seen around Detroit lately.

Stafford is expected to wind up as the Lions’ pick, and has been telling former Georgia teammates that he expects to be drafted by Detroit and receive a contract that includes nearly $40 million in guaranteed money.

Even though Stafford said the Lions are going to draft him and pay him X amount of dollars, I think this is something to keep everyone guessing. You'll probably hear they are negotiating with Jason Smith next lol.

That may not happen, but there is way that Detroit can get Curry and Sanchez:

If they draft Stafford, they're off to the races. They'll eventually shit-can Gun and anyone else who isn't cutting it, and they'll get it together.
Not overnight, but it will happen.

They're not as bad a franchise as you might think. They rolled just as hard in the 90's as KC, and they ended up in about the same place with the same results.
I'd LOVE to see Detroit and Chicago take over that Division and kick Green Bay's ass to the curb.
