Yeah, you buy that, and it ends up being basketball.

I wonder what they'll call Madden (the video game) now.
Take care John, but stay out of Oakland.
I'm sure it will still be called Madden. He makes a fortune off of that game.

you're missing the worst part completely:

chris "chickenchest" collinsworth is now going to be in the booth with al michaels :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Collinsworth has far and away the best and most interesting insight of anyone commenting on games today. On his good days, Madden was still better*, but he was having fewer and fewer good days.

*(yes, Madden was actually brilliant, but he killed his credibility by saying things like "if you score the most points, you've got a pretty shot at winning the game. That said, his observations were always helpful, and usually things I'd miss. And he was great at talking about oline play.)

I'm guessing this year will be Madden NFL 10, and have some kind of special edition for an extra $20 that's pretty much just a fancy cover with John on it and maybe a DVD chronicling the history of the game and John's involvement. Next year it'll probably be called EA Sports NFL 11, after awhile people will stop calling it Madden and start calling it NFL.

I think they should call it 'Tecmo Super Bowl 2010'.

I doubt it.

I'm pretty sure Madden owns the rights to the game. As in, it's his. I don't see any reason why it won't continue to be called Madden in perpetuity. He's still a Hall of Fame coach and all.

Not sure why you think the Madden game won't continue on, then. It's not like he works on it now.

Hopefully they won't put his picture on Madden '10. They put Favre on there after he retired, so I guess it would only be logical to put Maddens face on there. Can you imagine that? The game box is always laying around and there will be his ugly mug.

Last year the collectors edition had John on the cover so I doubt they'll put him on 10, but who knows.

I hate to beat this dead horse, but I still can't for the life of me figure out why you're assuming that the name has to change.

Yeah. EA has had the deal with Madden the person.

Not sure why people would think his network would have say... especially since he switched networks a few years ago.

Go to the 'Wanna bet" thread in fantasy sports and put your points up on the block.
