Buccaneers sign QB Leftwich

TAMPA, FLORIDA (TICKER) —The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added to their crowded quarterback corps, signing free-agent Byron Leftwich.
Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Leftwich, 29, was a backup with the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers last season. He also played one season with the Atlanta Falcons (2007) after spending his first four pro seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who drafted him in the first round in 2003.
In 54 career games, including 46 starts, Leftwich has thrown for 9,624 yards while completing 842 of 1,438 pass attempts with 54 touchdowns and 38 interceptions.
Leftwich will compete with Luke McCown, Brian Griese and Josh Johnson for the starting quarterback slot next season.
