This never should have happened. I could see this maybe before the tournament, but after everything that happened in the tourney, there were several more deserving candidates than Self. Maybe they voted before, who knows.
My name is Maximus Decimus Warthog, member of HomeoftheChiefs.com, former season ticket holder of the lower level , loyal servant to the true coach, Martimus Schottenheimer. Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.

For regular season sure
Anderson was coach of the year for the whole year though
You can say Kansas is young, but they play with All AMericans every year....

As much as I hate to admit it cuz i'm a KU fan, Anderson is one of my favorite coaches in all of college BBALL. His style of coaching is very rare and I've loved in since his days at UAB. That being said Anderson and Self both were Top 5 in coaching jobs this year. If i remember correctly KU had 1 five star recruit on their whole team. Our top recruit last year barely played at all and Self did a good job of finding Taylor and the Morris Twins. If we get Lance Stephenson or Xavier Lee this year I can see how people would say were playing with a bunch of All-Americans but we were far from having a bunch of McDonalds All-Americans this year.

no MA was COTY for the tourney
and MU had 3 Sr's who were key parts to their success(Lawerance, Lyons and Carroll).KU had to rely on a JR and SO and majority of frosh

Yes we had 3 seniors but we were picked to finish 7th... I assume KU was picked to finish 3rd or 4th? and Mizzou had a better year than KU.... Thats just what I go off of... Regardless of our seniors KU was still "picked" to have a better season than MU, and they didn't

No doubt about it. We were picked to finish behind Kansas and we won the Big 12 Conference title and went further in the NCAA tournament than Kansas. Anderson got screwed because he didn't have the bigger name.
its typical bias bullshit. It really doesn't matter though, we locked Anderson up long term and I really do think he is for real... Our future recruits will show that we aren't a 1 year wonder

Man, if there is one un winnable debate in this world, it's persuading a Beaker that MU has ever, or will ever play at the same "glorious" level as KU.
And ever since the Orange Bowl, the uppityness has only escalated. By the by, I've started using Rock Chalk brand air sanitizer. It's made from pure, unprocessed KU waste water and smells like Ambrosia!

Look, I have nothing against Bill Self, and he has done a great job in Kansas with the young talent and such. But I'm sorry, that's just not right. By no means, I'm a Mizzou fan, but WTF does Mike Anderson need to do in order for him to get some respect? I mean, Missouri was selected to finish 7th during the pre-season polls, and they proved the doubters wrong. Some people thought Mizzou was only to be one and done in the NCAA Tourny, and even if they did get as far as playing against Memphis, they wouldn't make it that far as they just did.
In my view, Mike Anderson is the AP Coach of the Year, because not only what he did for the University of Missouri, he made basketball revelent again in the state of Missouri, since the days of Norm "Storming Norman" Stewart.
