Just like the Dwayne Bowe fumble of an onside kick last year has changed the football world as we know it, the Cassel trade keeps reverberating throughout the league. Scott Pioli is an evil genius. Look at how many teams it has effected so far, KC, New England, Denver, Chicago, Tampa Bay, Washington...is there more?
Campbell Taking The High Road

Instead of sulking about the Washington Redskins’ ultimately unsuccessful pursuit of quarterback Jay Cutler, who was traded to the Chicago Bears, Redskins starting quarterback Jason Campbell is staying positive despite being shopped around the league, according to Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post.
“There was a lot of crazy stuff going on, stuff you’re hearing from people you trust, so you know something’s happening,” Campbell said. “But you also know that there’s nothing you can do about it. You just keep working and doing the things you need to do to get ready for the season.
“I just kept preparing myself for the season because whether I was here or whether I was someplace else, I still have a responsibility to my coaches and teammates. Those are the people that matter to me, so at the end of the day, I never want to let them down.”
According to the Post, the Redskins shopped Campbell to the Denver Broncos during the Cutler talk. Plus, the Redskins spoke to another NFL franchise about trading Campbell for a second-round draft pick.
In an attempt at damage control, Redskins coach Jim Zorn got in touch with Campbell on Thursday. Redskins owner Daniel Snyder and General Manager Vinny Cerrato are expected to meet with Campbell soon to repair the relationship and may issue a statement of confidence in Campbell as soon as today.
From Campbell’s standpoint, though, he’s handling the situation as best as he can despite the public nature of the team being willing to part ways with him.
“Jim was honest with me about the whole process and everything that went on, and you appreciate it when people tell you the truth,” Campbell said. “I know Jim has been behind me and believes in me, and I have the support of my coaches and my teammates, and that’s pretty much all you need.
“To have Jim tell me he knows I can help this team get to where we want to be and that he has that confidence, that trust, in me, that’s what you want to hear as a young quarterback in this league after having all this crazy stuff going on around you. Knowing you can trust your coach really helps right now.”
The Broncos felt like Kyle Orton was a better fit for their system than Campbell, which is one reason why Cutler is in Chicago and Campbell is still in Washington.
Campbell acknowledged that his pride has been hurt, but plans to use the slight as motivation.
“In a lot of ways, you have a lot of feelings about this, but there’s also a lot of stuff you just keep on the inside,” Campbell said. “You just go out there with a little bit more passion, a little bit more of a chip on your shoulder. Out of all of this, something good has got to come out of it.
“Maybe it’s just that you stay positive, you keep working hard for the people that matter to you and you keep trying to be the best you can be. I really believe that everything I’ve gone through only prepares me to be a stronger person and a stronger quarterback. But this also shows you a lot. It shows you your true value to some people.”

My name is Maximus Decimus Warthog, member of HomeoftheChiefs.com, former season ticket holder of the lower level , loyal servant to the true coach, Martimus Schottenheimer. Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.

Nice to see he has class, and understands the business side of the game. This is the NFL, people get traded, always have, always will. In the entirety of the NFL most players have played with multiple teams, then those who have stayed with one team their intire career. It is what is. Kudos to Campbell for being an adult and not a whiny bitch.
