This is despite consistent injury problems so far for Wentz.

This clearly has to have some impact on a future Mahomes contract. It seems that guaranteed money is the biggest issue, and I'm fine with that. We're going to live and die with Mahomes anyway.

Everyone knows he's gonna be the first $200M contract in NFL history, a huge chunk of which will be guaranteed.

Mahomes deserves guaranteed money, because Mahomes IS guaranteed money.

Unlike Derek Carr, when Mahomes signs his contract nobody will say "This is a bad move".

Well, maybe Colin Cowherd.  Just to troll KC fans.

Yeah, I mean, these next two years are really the window to win with Mahomes while he's still playing on a rookie deal.  There's no way they make him play his fifth year option.

I'm genuinely excited about the new Chiefs season, but every once in a while I remember that they hired Spags for some reason, and I get real sad.

Relevant part:

Quote:The problem here is that the Chiefs appear to have given new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo great latitude in deciding what kinds of players he wants for his defense. If Spagnuolo doesn't see Jones as the type of defensive tackle he likes for his front, the Chiefs might be reluctant to offer Jones a top-of-market deal, and the standoff could continue for a while.

Meh. That's just speculation.

ESPN should be better than that. Anyone on the internet can speculate something like that.

If Chris Jones isn't a good fit for your scheme, then your scheme probably sucks.

"I just can't find a place for this record breaking 24 year old elite pass rushing tackle."  - Things good coaches don't say.

I'm not buying it at all.

As I understand it he wasn't personally arrested or anything, but this still shows KC made the right move to dump him.

If he's still hanging out with a rough crowd at bars late at night, it's just a matter of time before Hunt completes the process and royally screws up. It isn't that hard to get drunk at home and play video games instead, I'm living proof of that. I'm only a threat to chicken tenders when I'm drunk at home.

Allen Bailey finally signed with the Falcons. 2 year, $10.5M deal, $6M this year, $3.5M guaranteed.

Just wish he's have done this sooner when he still would have counted for compensatory picks.
