Off to a somber start.  Also, isn't pitching going to be a real problem this season?

Homer: [reading] "Project Arcturus couldn't have succeeded without you. This will get you a little closer to that dream of yours. It's not the Dallas Cowboys, but it's a start. Drop me a line if you're on the East Coast, Hank Scorpio." Aw, the Denver Broncos!
Marge: I think owning the Denver Broncos is pretty good.
Homer: Yeah, yeah.
Marge: Well, explain to me why it isn't.
Homer: [sighs] You just don't understand football, Marge.

I didn't get to watch the game, so I hadn't seen the Yordano tribute until now.

I think the starting rotation is going to be okay. It's the bullpen that has me worried. It's not HHDH (Hochevar, Herrrera, Davis, Holland), or even Herrera and Davis, it's just Herrera. The quality is down across the board in the bullpen. I think people underestimate how much of a unique advantage that was having guys that could consistently wipe out an inning each.

That and what the hell are the Royals thinking trying to rely less on speed and more on power? We don't have a hitter friendly ballpark and power is far less consistent than speed and hitting for contact. I understand the core of the team is starting to get a little older and a couple guys have moved on, but it's messing with the whole formula that won them a World Series.

I don't even watch baseball regularly and I totally understood immediately that bullpen was KC's strength in 2014 and 2015.  Told anyone who would listen, especially Mets fans who kept trying to tell me that the Mets had the best bullpen in baseball.  Told 'em they were gonna be real surprised.  They were.  Davis is incredible... where'd he go?

Cubs. Talk about a lucky run of good teams.

Eh, this is as good a place as any to leave this:

Article about the Royal 1979 draft class, which inlcuded Elway and Marino, apparently.  Loved this quote:

Quote:ART STEWART, Royals scout: We’d have a pretty good football team if we’d signed all those guys. Bo Jackson, Dan Marino, John Elway, Deion Sanders.
