Hiring Herm as headcoach may have been the best thing for the Chiefs.

If you think about it, it probably was one of the best things Kansas City need.

Pretty much he got Carl fired. And without Carl being fired, we would of never had Pioli
Without Pioli, we would of never fired Herm. Without firing Herm we couldn't get a new head coach.

All these chain reactions. All for the best.

In a way, I am glad we had to suffer for 3 years, because in the long run, I see a parade bigger than in NE or PIT!

It's hard to argue logic like that.

I for one would rather see the Roiders and Donks fall the way they have as opposed to watching the Chiefs turn into the Chefs.
Aloha means Hello to Scott Pioli, and Good-Bye to Herman Edwards, and Carl Peterson!!

Its just he more I see Pioli work, the more I realize that he was the right choice and all of this comes back on Herm

You're right about Herm securing the long overdue shit-canning of Carl.

I'm looking forward to a couple or three years from now when the True Fans( defenders of all things Chiefs, including every God-awful decision ever made because "Hey, I don't like it but it's my team and I stand by them thick or thin blah-blah-blah"...)get to finally realize and understand the depth to which Carl Peterson truly sucked ass by way of Pioli's leadership and success.

They are going to be pissed.

They are going to be livid.

And they will finally realize that as fans, they lost twelve years of their lives for no good reason whatsoever. No good reason at all. Completely and utterly wasted and useless time. Lost.

Not to defend Carl or anything, but he has taken us to the playoffs more times than Pioli....

False.

It was not "one of the best things Kansas City need". It was a horrible fucking decision made by a man who had outlived his usefulness to the franchise, but don't play Pollyanna now and glorify Herm as the Harbinger of death. It was a bad hire. It stalled this franchise for three years while the ownership was in a transitional period and incapable of making a change. Clark was going to get rid of Carl--who hadn't been good at his job in years--regardless. All hiring Herm did was leave the franchise in as poor of a shape as possible for a new regime.

Why you would want to glorify the worst game-day coach I've ever seen is beyond me. It's a mistake to believe he brough any positive to Kansas City. From all accounts, Carl was out of a job as soon as poor Lamar moved on to a better place. Clark need the right political climate to get rid of him (him fielding a dogshit coach and a dogshit team certainly helped), but that writing was still on the wall. That said, there were competent coaches on the market when we traded for Herm Edwards, who had just gone 4-12. That was not, under any revisionist history, a good move.

You'll note I did say 12 years and not 19, yes? IMO, Carl should have hit the bricks with Marty. And as far as I'm concerned, Carl and Vermeil put band aids on this team instead of building one. I know Carl wanted a playoff run before Lamar died and I can respect that, but it really hurt us long-term after Vermeil's departure.

Um.. yeah.

It's like saying that 9/11 was a good thing because it forced us to tighten up airport security. :teeth:
