I think I read that the Chiefs have about $20M in cap space but I can't remember who twatted that.

Currently $20mil over, but they've got two more days to figure it out.

Speaking of salary cap magic, the Saints still have to shed another $30mil.  Pro Bowlers Marshon Lattimore and Ryan Ramczyk are playing on the final year of rookie deals and I suspect the Saints are trying to extend both, as well as Marcus Williams, who they franchised.  I would bet all three are available for the right trade price, though, and all three would be good fits in KC.

Yeah, $20M in the hole, but the Chiefs could easily make about $30M in cap room restructuring parts of PM15's contract and others. They could also make room by extending Honey Badger or others. Either of these types of moves can affect the team's cap flexibility in the future, but otherwise the Chiefs can make some moves with minimal pain.

Again, Saints fan, so $20M over the cap seems like $10M under to me already.  I get it.  Extending and shifting base salary to prorated bonus is the easy move.  I would probably try to convert Honey Badger's money into a bonus, but not Mahomes this early into his deal.  That thing seems designed to be completely redone in another four years tops anyway.

EDIT: Chiefs are only a little more that $4M over now. Anyone know what moves they made? Looks like someone probably had some money converted to a bonus, but I'm not sure.

The Saints cut Janoris Jenkins, so they can now get under the cap just by signing Lattimore, Ramczyk and Williams to long-term deals.  I still think any of the three would be available for the right price, though.  Lattimore is the real prize to be had, I think, but Ramczyk would probably be a more immediate need.  Dude is a beast.

So... they cut Fisher? Was that it? That looks like that was it. Damn. What a horrible time to have had the #1 overall pick in the draft.

And they cut Mitchell Schwartz as well.

Offensive line is now straight up priority #1 and #2 in FA and the draft, even if you like some of our other pieces going forward like Niang.
