Chiefs Preseason Games Thread
#1

So i didnt watch the game but I saw a clip of the first pass by mahomes where it just lands perfectly in kelces hands right out in front of a defender. Mahomes could have walked off the field immediately after that and everyone would have still been put on alert that hes coming back for another mvp.

They look very good offensively on the opening series, and thereafter.

Defense is still a work in progress, but I do notice that they're a little more faster and tackling is a little more sound. I'm not going to freak out about that 14 play drive on the opening defensive series, considering they have gotten better afterwards.

Well, that was fun. Smile

Arrowhead had more energy than I've ever seen it for a preseason game, which was kinda cool and lines up with the ridiculous amount of crowds at camp in St. Joe this year.

Our offense is ridiculous and maybe a little unfair.

I concur with Coach about the D. It's not there yet, but the fundamentals and the speed give me a bit of hope. And remember, Frank Clark wasn't playing, so we didn't see the REAL starting D just quite yet (and I suspect it was a really, really basic, vanilla D anyway).

And when you consider Frank Clark didn't play and Chris Jones and Tyrann only played 2 snaps.

BTW, might I just say the RBs looked excellent. Darwin Thompson is going to contribute immediately with his explosive running style and Caldwell looked good too. He's a solid practice squad candidate right now. No Darrell Williams this game, but we know he's pretty decent too.

Hard to say about the receivers and TEs. Hardman looks electric, but nobody really got enough targets to really judge them this game. The ball was spread around a lot.

There's a lot of good players at the offensive skill positions. It's going to be a real chore deciding how many and who to keep at each position.

The game against the Steelers was painful to watch. I am not a Chad Henne fan. I kept getting Matt Cassel flashbacks and it wasn't a good thing. I am patiently waiting the release of Carlos Hyde, I don't feel he brings anything to the table that we don't have already.

I am liking our TEs and Hardmen looks legit, minus the negative yard return!

Overall in the pre-season the refs seem to be penalty happy, I hope they get this out of their system in the pre-season.

Same as always.

For the first preseason game I'm all "Finally, FOOTBALL !!  WHOOOO!"

Then I watch it and realize Preseason is terrible and meaningless.  Then I barely watch the final 3 preseason games.

It IS amusing watching people over-react to everything young QB's do though.  Kyler Murray after game 1 :  "This kid is a future star!  I"ve seen enough"  after game 2:  "He has a long way to go before he's an NFL QB."

NFL Punditgs on Daniel Jones: "This guy was a 3rd round pick!  He only went over Haskins because the giants are racist!  He won't amount to anything!"

2 preseason games later:  "Kid will be great, they need to start him over Eli right away!"

It's just so reactionary.  Anyone remember a few seasons ago when NOT Mahomes, Trubisky, or Watson had a great preseason and got everyone talking?  Yanno who did?  Kizer.  He's already changed teams and was a train wreck as a starter.

The only thing that can happen in preseason that should alter ANY predictions is injuries.
