I Love "Experts" - Razorchief - 01-21-2020

This is hilarious. This happened driving up to KC Friday for The Game.

One of the good things about my 8-9 hour drive to KC for Chiefs games is the variety of sports radio talk shows. I start off with a Fox Sports show, then move to CBS Sports, then ESPN, then another CBS, then more ESPN stations into Missouri, finally getting a couple of local stations out of KC. Cool to hear different perspectives on the same stories and sometimes some good insight and "expert" commentary.

I got this gem from a CBS station Friday while driving up--"It is a lot better to win in the NFL than it is to lose in the NFL". WOW!! Such profound wisdom and incredible insight!! Something I never knew until then!! Brilliant!!
I think that is when I took a break and found a very good classical station. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 was playing and helped get my mind readjusted while I pondered that stupendous analytical pronouncement.

Just imagine what they'll come up with filling the next two weeks with only two teams to talk about.

Where will Tom Brady play will be as big of a topic as the SB damn near.

The best expert commentary I heard was the Sunday night of the AFC and NFC Championship games. Right after the 49ers won, an expert said, ‘we’ll,the Chiefs can’t stop the run’. This was after a week of hearing how Derrick Henry was the greatest running back of all time and the Chiefs would be lucky to hold him to 150. They sure know a lot.

Well, how many "experts" have picked the Chargers to win the AFC West for what, three or four years in a row?

A bunch, that's how many.

It's like they keep doing it because eventually, in the far flung future, they'll be right.

I think that Jeff Chadiha still thinks the Chargers have a shot this year.

Well, that's as well-thought out and rational as predicting the Chargers to win the division in July 2019, so I totally believe it.

For better or worse, most experts seem to be picking the Chiefs. Here's a link to a list of what ESPN's gurus are predicting.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28576384/super-bowl-liv-score-predictions-espn-experts-pick-49ers-chiefs

Quote:The tally: Chiefs have the advantage

Of 79 experts who weighed in, the Chiefs were favored by 49 of them (62%), while the 49ers claimed 30 votes (38%).

The most common predicted final score was 31-27, picked by eight of our experts. The lowest combined total was 37 (20-17). The highest combined score was 105 (54-51).

Caesars Sportsbook currently favors Kansas City by 1.5 points. ESPN's Football Power Index also likes the Chiefs (64.8%) by an average of five points.

Each ESPN personality is listed individually with their score prediction in the link if you have someone you have a hate boner for and want to see how wrong they are.

The ones that are picking the Niners mostly have them winning by 3, only three are picking them to win by 7, and none are picking above 7 points. Many of the experts picking the Chiefs have them winning by double digits. It gives you an idea of the level of confidence between the groups and the general perception.

Now, that doesn't mean I haven't heard plenty of tired memes about how awful the Chiefs run D is despite recent evidence to the contrary or how they can't do X where X is something they've already overcome in previous games, like fall behind early or what have you. Simply put, KC can win any type of game and that's obvious from the last 3 months.

As that brilliant one said, "it is a lot better to win in the NFL than it is to lose in the NFL". Well, we WON!! THE DAMN SUPER BOWL!!! Yes, the expert was spot on and correct with that one
