Madden 20 Player Ratings - asskickingboots - 07-15-2019

On account of the cover athlete, you may have heard of him, this is the first time I'll buy Madden at launch in years.

They actually have some significant changes to how they're handling players by adding special abilities, making them more unique than just their numbers. For instance, Mahomes alone has a "Bazooka" ability that increases his throwing range by 15 yards if certain conditions are met (complete a pass of 30+ yards in the air).

Only 50 players have any of the special abilities at the start of the game. I'm hoping you can unlock abilities for players by spending XP in franchise mode.

Here's a link to the player ratings for the Chiefs.

https://www.easports.com/madden-nfl/player-ratings?i=1&t=9&s=ovr_rating:DESC&v=true&utm_campaign=mad20_hd_ww_ic_soco_twt_m20ratingshubtw&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&cid=58923&ts=1563202674331

Mahomes did not get a 99 rating (only 4 players did: Donald, Mack, Wagner, Hopkins), but he is the highest rated QB at 97. Brady is 96, Rivers is 94, Brees is 92 (I think they got those 2 backwards personally), Luck is 92, Wilson is 91, Rodgers is 90.

Kelce is the highest rated TE at 96. Ertz is 93, Delanie Walker is 92, Kittle is 90.

Hill is the 6th highest rated WR at 94. Hopkins is 99, Antonio Brown is 98, Julio is 98, OBJ is 96, Michael Thomas is 95, Thielen is also 94. Hill has 99 speed, 99 accel. No one else has above 97 speed or above 96 accel at any position, and the fastest CB is 95 speed, so burn away.

Watkins is rated 82 overall. Mecole Hardman is rated 70, but with 95 speed. 4 of the Chiefs top 5 wideouts have 90+ speed, so that will be pretty good for anyone that plays online.

Mitch Schwartz is the top rated RT at 93, 4 ahead of his nearest competition. The rest of our line is 78 or lower. I get why people trash on him, but I think Fisher is better than a 74 and LDTMD is better than 78. The others I understand, they're unproven.

Chris Jones is the 6th highest rated DT at 89. Fletcher Cox is 96, Damon Harrison is 95, Michael Pierce is 92, Geno Atkins is 91, Kenny Clark is 90.

Mathieu is the 6th highest rated SS at 87. Harrison Smith is 94, Malcom Jenkins is 92, Jamal Adams is 90, Keanu Neal is 89, Adrian Amos is also 87.

Fuller is a respectable 87 at CB. Breeland is 74. The rest of our corners are 67 or lower... ouch. Guess I know one place to look for FA help at the start.

Frank Clark is woefully low at 83. For comparison Dee Ford (84) is rated higher. That's ridiculous. I wasn't in favor of the trade to start with, but even then I'd have acknowledged Clark was a better and far more complete player than Ford. So, there's a candidate for growth as the year goes on I guess as our defense hopefully surprises the pundits.

Damien Williams is rated at 80, with 90 speed, that should be good enough to be effective. Carlos Hyde is 76. Darwin Thompson is low even for a rookie at 65 and an okayish 88 speed. Darrel Williams is a weak 63 with a grandma-esque 83 speed, making him worse than Boobie Williams who already got cut from the team IRL.

Nothing else really worth mentioning. The bottom half of the roster is pretty abysmal, but that's true for basically every team and half the fun of these games is building the roster over a couple years.

RE: Madden 20 Player Ratings - NOLA - 07-16-2019

Alvin Kamara is only a 90? That seems low.

RE: Madden 20 Player Ratings - tyecopeland - 07-16-2019

I wouldn't have Gurley at 97. Seems way too high considering how his season ended. I'd also have Kamara Barkley and McCaffrey rated higher over Gordon

Yeah, I think he should be more like a 92. Also noticed they gave Hunt a higher speed than Kamara despite that Kamara ran a (slightly) faster 40 time.

Yeah, but he'll have a lower throwing power rating than Josh Allen.
