There are a couple parts I like in particular, but best was Veach saying if the Chiefs had the #1 pick they'd have taken Mahomes. That's something people often say as kind of "coach speak", but I absolutely believe him. It's things like that I love which fly directly in the face of draftniks that weren't mad we drafted Mahomes, they were mad where we drafted him.

I believe it too.

Look, the Bears traded up because SOME TEAM was trying to trade up above them.  You know it.  It's the only reason that makes sense.  They PROBABLY thought that team wanted Trubisky.  I have my own theories.

Such as the fact that KC didn't know who Chicago would draft, and were trying to get ahead to ensure they got the QB they wanted.  I'm not sure KC picks a QB if Mahomes is off the board.  I don't think this was a situation where they simply intended to take the best QB available.

Be interesting to see the draft board KC had to see if this is true.  Maybe Mahomes was the highest graded player they had.  Other teams thought he was a day 3 talent.

That's why there are good teams and bad teams.

From what I've read Veach was the one pushing so hard for him too .

Yes, and here's a Terez Paylor article driving that point home:

This a good read about Mahomes and the Chiefs offense from Barnwell:

Heh, everybody's saying the Niners game was Mahomes' "worst" game.

This season.  Big Grin

I've actually seen people say "I don't really see him playing any worse than this."

Was the first time I thought "yeah dude, Mahomes isn't THAT good.

There's not a great QB in history that didn't have awful games.  If Drew Brees, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, John Elway, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Johnny Unitas could have bad games, so can Patrick.

I put Drew up front because he's far too frequently left out of 'greatest of all time' lists, when he's easily top 10 of all time.

Thanks bud! I would probably have him ahead of everybody but Brady, probably Montana, and of course, Mahomes (the undisputed GOAT).  Ahead of Rodgers cos Rodgers isn't done yet, and I don't see whatever it is that everybody else sees.  He's a HOFer too, sure, but I'm not sure why he gets so much more love than Brees.  Elway's a dick who won his first SB because of TD and his second because ATL gonna ATL.  Marino's a dick too, plus Brees took away the one thing he had.  Peyton Mannign should probably be ahead of him, but fuck that.  Even Archie loves Brees more (you can see him rooting against the Colts from a suite during that SB).

I'm not sure people understand how many records Brees is going to own when he retires.

I feel blessed that the Bolts went with the imminently collapsing Phillip Rivers over Brees. Brees is not some Garbage Time All Pro.
