12 games.  KC will be the talk of the NFL.

I like Preseason Optimism Jonas.  It doesn't happen every year.

I also really like this team.

Damn right.

This is the first time since 1993 I believe KC is building a team that can contend for a championship.

The defense has some holes, but I think 100% this is a championship level offense.

I think Marcus Peters hurt the team more than people think.  I think he limited what KC could do defensively.  He created a ton of turnovers but KC went from a two time top 10 defense to a two time bottom 10 defense in terms of yards allowed instantly.  He always plays off coverage, doesn't defend the run, and gives up big plays in exchange for big turnovers.  One of the best games KC had defensively in terms of not allowing first downs was against Oakland... when Peters was suspended.  Now correlation doesn't equal causation, but there's a lot of correlation going on here.  There are other factors though (Houston's injury, Abdullah's retirement)

I think KC will get less turnovers, but will improve in other defensive metrics
.

12 games.  If the 2016 team could win 12, this team will win 12.

Would it even be realistically possible to get worse?

Oh yeah.

If you think this defense is anywhere as bad as, say, the 2002 KC chiefs defense...

Oh man.  Yeah.  It can get much worse.  Our best player could be Mike Mazlowski.

He's got 2 more teams lined up for visits now. Still unsigned by anyone. According to a tweet that I can't pull up so I haven't actually read we supposedly offered him a 1 year deal worth 7-8 million.

Peters to the rams.

Fuck, really?

I mean, Andy puts up with everybody's shit--players love him.  Peters must be a real asshole.

A rather 'hot take' I keep seeing is that KC traded Peters because Clark Hunt and KC fans are racist.

Gotta love this new era of sports media coverage.

Peters hated KC.  Not the team.  The city.  The fans.  He hated us.

When he referred to Oakland like it was riverdale, I almost pissed my pants.

FWIW, Peters has been pretty terrible for the Rams.

I don't miss Marcus Peters one bit. I do not believe this defense would be materially better with him.

Marcus Peters - 51.8 PFF rating - #100 CB

Matching the eye test as he got burnt several times today.

He's not getting the turnovers either.  Just a single interception.  I haven't watched the rams, are they using him in the same way?  Allowing him to play off, read the triangle, and react to the ball?  That's not really how Wade likes to play defense, and I was skeptical peters could continue forcing turnovers at that rate in Wade's system.

I mean normally at this point Peters has caused 5 turnovers.  It's what allowed you to overlook his inconsistent coverage.  Now he's just a CB with 1 INT who gets burned a lot.
