*** Chiefs 2018 Offseason Thread ***

Meh.

KC wasn't the hot pick last season either until they went to Foxboro and put it on the Patriots while the nation watched.

National sports media ALWAYS over-rates the chargers.  I mean good god, when was the last time San Diego actually beat the Chiefs?  Five years ago?  Plus they ALWAYS lose important clutch games latein the season.

The Broncos added Case Keenum, and I'm pretty sure he didn't bring the Viking offense with him.  Their secondary took a hit losing Talib.  For fuck's sake, the Raiders are FAR scarier than the Broncos right now.

Can we please try to limit our off board topic conversations. We really need to focus on comic book adaptations, summer blockbusters and tv shows. I'm tired of having to filter through all this chiefs bullshit.

Another food related Chiefs story. Here's a story about the burgers Mitch Schwartz made:

...and the YouTube video that inspired him.

Yes, I'll be trying this out soon. I'll probably find a way to church this up somehow, like adding cilantro or maybe some sauteed onions and 'shrooms.

I had to admonish Mitch for his use of Kraft singles instead of real American Cheese.  If not from the counter, at least the pre-packaged deli deluxe from Kraft.  The singles are just nasty.

22 ESPN experts were asked to pick 5 teams that would make the playoffs after missing them last year and 5 teams who would miss the playoffs after making them last year.

Chiefs came in 4th on the will miss playoffs list but 20 out of the 22 unnamed voters voted for them.

4. Kansas City Chiefs
Total votes (of 22): 20
How they fared in 2017: 10-6. Lost to Titans in AFC wild-card round
FPI rank headed into 2018: 13
Why they could miss playoffs: After five seasons with the remarkable stability at quarterback provided by Alex Smith, the Chiefs are headed into the great unknown at a most important position. Patrick Mahomes will take over at quarterback, adding an air of uncertainty where there had been none for the Chiefs. Mahomes played well in his one start last season as a rookie but he's only 22 and it's unrealistic to believe everything will go as smoothly for him over a long season. The Chiefs also were bad on defense for most of last season and unloaded two of their top defenders, including cornerback Marcus Peters. They might need Mahomes to play extraordinarily well to cover for their defense. -- Adam Teicher

Totally agree. Deli American cheese is awesome. Kraft singles are plastic.

Counterpoint: Jared Goff led his team to the playoffs last year in his second year, and that dude doesn't know where the sun rises.  Literally.  It was on Hard Knocks and everything.

Who's the other top defender? DJ? Not sure I'd call him a top defender anymore. Ron Parker was a burden to overcome. Truth be told, every player we lost in the backfield on defense could end up as an addition by subtraction.

Yeah, but we don't need football players to be smart.

Sammy Watkins is a flat earther.
