In all honesty, that game was just as I pictured it would be. Dirk will always get the calls going his way in Dallas (ex. Barry clearly taking a charge, but getting the blocking foul instead of a charge on Dirka). Yao definitely got hit more so than Dirk, yet he had six less free throws.
But alas, the Rockets prevailed. Back in previous seasons, especially in Dallas, the Rox would keep it competitive up until the fourth quarter and then crumble. However, last night proved how badly this team has needed someone else to step it up in case T-Mac or Yao were unable (in yesterday's case, McGrady).
Ron Artest played great basketball, and I loved it whenever he got the opportunity to guard Dirka...He was clearly rattled whenever he had Ron-Ron guarding him, resorting to very tough 16 foot fadeaways. Hopefully the Rox can continue to play tough defense on the opponent's best player when it matters (late in the game).

Interesting. Did you fall off the Golden State bandwagon and right onto the Rockets one?
Getting Artest was a great move by the Rockets. And Adelman is a great coach. The Rockets will be a tough team this year.

If the original ChiefsHuddle was still around, I would easily go back to our epic Dallas Mavericks thread and quote my first reply which clearly stated how I was a Houston Rockets fan, yet cheering for the GS Warriors to defeat the Mavericks (as I am a huge Baron (or as you said "BaRon") Davis fan).
When it comes to basketball, it seems like the only team you know about are the Mavs. And you clearly exhibited that in our old thread two years ago. So just keep the little remarks coming, DC, and I'll continue throwing them right back in your face when the appropriate time arrives.

So, which of my remarks do you disagree with? That picking up Artest was a good move or that Adelman is a great coach?
I'm sorry that when my team is not doing so well, that I don't pick another team to root for. To each his own. I'm sure the fans of the Rockets are glad to have you back following their team again.

As for rooting for another team, I was aware that the Rockets were in that first round as well (losing to the Jazz in 7) that season, yet I *gasp* followed two series at once. And if you think it is inappropriate to have a liking towards another player not on your favorite team, then I guess that's your own thing.
Either way, you can say whatever you will towards me. You have shown much aversion towards me ever since I joined this community back in '06 all because I made a post voicing my opinion about your basketball team of choosing. If you want to snipe back at me every time I make a post, saying I like this or that, then by all means go ahead. You're really just doing me a favor by showing that you have nothing of quality to state besides petty insults.

I assume that it's my attention that you're seeking or you wouldn't come and brag about whichever team you're rooting for that week whenever they beat the Mavericks.

I don't see a point in making a Rockets thread if I'm the only fan of the team here. So in turn, I came to post about the Rockets in this thread, since they played the Mavericks that night.
About talking bad about the Mavericks, I said Dirk got plenty o' foul calls for his flops in this thread. And If you are blind enough by the Maverick-shaded glasses to see that your "franchise player" doesn't flop every chance he gets, then I don't know what to tell you.
As for my following of this team or that team, I have nothing more to say about it to you. I know what I stated in the past, and I stand by it 100 %. If you can't get over the fact that I may, just may like a player not on the Rockets, then you just sounding like a broken record, repeating over and over again how I like 23124 teams.
Also, since I'm fixated on getting your attention, how does me saying I'm also a big fan of Chris Paul sound? I also own a Steve Nash PHX Suns jersey! Oh my, I'm now a fan of four teams according to you.

How about we make a general NBA thread? Then the 4 of us on this board who are actual NBA fans can post whatever we'd like to about the NBA without messing up my homeristic Maverick thread?
I can recognize and respect great players on teams other then the Mavericks. But, for me, I root for the team. I don't buy season tickets because I'm a Dirk fan, I buy season tickets because I'm a Mavericks fan. And while I am a fan of other players like Steve Nash and Michael Beasley, I almost never root for their teams to win. Maybe if they're playing a team I hate worse, like the Lakers or Spurs.
I'm willing to start over and talk legitimate basketball with you if that works for you.

The Lakers/Spurs hate sentence is a good start. And yes, a general NBA thread to start things anew works fine with me.

However, I think Bass should definitely be getting more PT. I know he's only 6'8 or so, but his body strength can allow him to play with guys bigger than him. He got good minutes vs. the Rockets, but only in the 'teens these past 2 games.
As well, GG is definitely looking like someone who is trying to repackage himself as a not so lazy basketball player everyone paints him out to be. I know he's known for being a slam dunk champ, but I think if he can get his head straight, he can be a good player in the future. His handles are good enough to allow him to drive to the hoop, and his jump shot has always been pretty consistent. I know his defense isn't too stellar, but if he can get by, he can be a solid rotation guy.

I loved having the tickets and going to a game or two every week but the commitment is not for everyone.

What frustrates me the most is that it seems that when it comes to the playoffs that the whole team just watches Dirk make plays and no one can be counted on to help him out outside of about 10-15 points a game.
To win in the NBA you need two legit superstars, and Butler may not be up to the task. I want to seem them play Roddy B a little more and make a real play for someone who has some serious slashing ability and then the Mavs will be true contenders.
I love Dirk and he is my favorite player in all of sports right now, but without any help he wont get out of the second round.
