AP ranked #15 Missouri had it's first game against Western Illinois. Despite leading by 9 twice, the Tigers never led by double digits and were actually down with under 3 minutes left. They were rather impressively held on offense and unable to force enough turnovers on defense to really force their pace. Mizzou's wants to score in the 80s or 90s, but instead were held in to a slow pace that ended in a 66-61 victory.
I think there's alot to be learned from a game like that, and it's alot better to learn from a win than a loss when all is said and done.
Now, alot like their football team, I think the Tiger basketball team is going to be something to pay attention to next season in terms of the national scene. This year, they will make some noise in the conference, but I don't see an Elite 8 run in them quite.
Still, I'm plenty happy so long as they maintain relevance honestly. Having something to play for every year rocks.

Tigers end up winning 85-82 in OT. Denmon stole the ball with about 8 seconds left on the clock and made an and 1 layup to go up 3.

Damn good game.
Vandy is a damn good team really. It's a little scary that Mizzou seems to be playing so many close games, but a win is a win.

Very true. They gave Vandy a wide open shot at the end of regulation for a chance to win. Now, they at least contested the overtime shot to tie, but they're lucky they didn't lose the game before then.

Mizzou should finish 3rd or 4th in the league, probably 4th.

One kind of surprising thing is how much Phil Pressey struggled in the win. He got 0 points in 19 minutes. 0-7 from the field, 0-5 behind the arc. On the bright side, he did have 6 Assists. I don't think Mizzou can afford for him to have that kind of game against K-State on Saturday.
Getting a win against K-State would be even bigger. Mizzou is only 2-5 on the road with only one road win in Big XII play. If Mizzou can bottle up Pullen the way they did LaceDarius Dunn in the first half, they will win. Of course, that's the exact opposite of a given. I wish the game wasn't overlapping Missouri State playing Wichita State, those are both going to be really good games.

Well, from a Mizzou-centric perspective, you're right that's what they deserve just looking at the end of the season.
You've got to remember though, there's a shit ton of teams in the tournament that'll have worse resumes than Missouri. Also, if I were an outsider, and I drew Missouri as an 11 or 12 seed (though everything I see suggests they'll be an 8 or 9 seed), I wouldn't be very happy.
Missouri is still a dangerous team, and I think their style of play works very well in tournaments when teams are worn out and don't have time to prepare for you, especially when they aren't familiar with you. Honestly, I'd rather they were an 10 or 11 seed so they wouldn't have to face a 1 seed too soon, because I still think they're capable of a run.

It's just so hard to tell with this team.
One week they are close to upsetting KU. The next they are shooting 2-15 in the first half.......

I guess that comes with having a young team. I said at the beginning of the year I thought next year was the year to watch out for, but the inconsistency of this team has kind of scared me into doubt about that. I dunno.
