Is there anyone on here that is (or will be) following it?

US vs. England tomorrow. Should be a good matchup.

Yep. Today's games were not very entertaining. Things should pick up tomorrow though.

The SA/Mex game seemed to be pretty good. The URU/France game was horrific, though.

I didnt like the final score México vs SA... I think México should've won by a large margin, based on 1st half performance, 2nd half we were very fortunate to not lose the game.

I found annoying the lack of goals from our team...

I will root for the US later...

I dont like soccer at all but I watch every other game when is world cup time...

I'm glad that the US was able to get the draw with England. That one goal was pure luck.

Huge upset in SA.

Spain - 0
Switzerland - 1

For those not following, Spain is one of the favorites (if not THE favorite) to possibly win the tournament.

I can't get past the tie game crap. If I sat there for 3 hours with a bunch of unruly idiots, I would want some kind of an outcome.

If I'm not mistaken (and if I am can someone please correct me), I think that you can only get a tie in the group stage. Once it's determined which two teams from each group advance to the knockout rounds, then that's when the number of goals you score will count. Right now, they're only playing for points (3 points for a win; 1 point for a tie; 0 points for a loss).

Wow! What a game! US had to come back from 2 points down in the second half and were able to get the tie with Slovenia. They're not out of the tourney yet. They still can advance if England loses today against Algeria and if US can beat Algeria in their next game with them.

They have to have both happen? That sucks. England won't lose. I know nothing about all this, but I don't think England will lose to the Algerians, even though the Algerians are playing on their home continent.

Is the normal result of a soccer game a tie? I thought it was only unusual if someone won or lost.

You know, you're right. My mistake.
However, US HAS to beat Algeria. A tie won't do it.

It seems like it.

The second half of today's game was kind of exciting. But a tie is very unsatisifying.

And by all accounts, it should've been a win by the US. Ref made a horrific call that negated a US goal that would've made it 3-2 US.

True.

I just heard that if England beats Slovenia and the US beats Algeria, they advance.

Well, England ties. If the US wins, they're in.

I believe that even if the US ties with Algeria and England loses to Slovenia, then US would still advance.
