My name is Maximus Decimus Warthog, member of HomeoftheChiefs.com, former season ticket holder of the lower level , loyal servant to the true coach, Martimus Schottenheimer. Father to disenfranchised sons, husband to a non football fanatic wife, and I will see my Chiefs in a Super Bowl, in this life or the next.

But.... I need somewhere to put this.
Chancellor and Perkins announce Perkins' retirement; chancellor names interim AD
LAWRENCE — Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little and Athletics Director Lew Perkins announced today that Perkins has retired from his position, effective immediately.
“There is no question that Kansas Athletics has benefited from Lew Perkins’ leadership,” said Gray-Little. “One need only look at the academic success of our student-athletes, at KU’s trophy cases and at our state-of-the art athletic facilities to see those benefits. I appreciate his service and understand his decision.”
After Perkins’ June announcement of his plans to retire next year, a search process for a new athletics director was started and is under way. With the future of Kansas Athletics assured to be in capable hands, Perkins has chosen to accelerate his retirement plans. In the meantime, Sean Lester has been named interim athletics director.
“We must always be building on our success and we will now be fully focused on the future of Kansas Athletics and the University of Kansas,” said Gray-Little.
Under the terms of his retirement agreement, which is being finalized, Perkins will receive an amount equivalent to his salary through the end of his employment, which otherwise was set for Sept. 4, 2011. Earlier this summer, Perkins announced and Gray-Little agreed to shortening his contract from its previous end date of June 30, 2015, to a new end date of Sept. 4, 2011.
“I’ve enjoyed my seven years here at KU,” said Perkins. “What I’ve cherished more than anything is the opportunity to work with our coaches, student-athletes, staff, alumni, Williams Fund members and K-Club members.
“I am grateful that Chancellor Hemenway allowed Gwen and me to come to Lawrence to be part of the great university. We love this community; we consider it home. This decision will give us a chance to stay involved in the community in different ways. It will also allow me to explore other professional opportunities.”
Perkins’ contract provides for a June 30, 2011, retention payment, which will be paid at this time. Therefore, the total amount entitled to Perkins following today’s announcement is approximately $2 million before taxes. This will be paid by Kansas Athletics; no taxpayer or tuition dollars will be used.

This game wasn't really close. It was 21-3 at the half. Ouch. You can't put up 3.1 ypc rushing against a Conference USA opponent. After doing a great job against the run with GT, Kansas allowed 5.8 ypc and 202 rushing yards (really, it was 6.2 ypc and 206 yards rushing if you factor out USM taking a couple knees at the end).
I don't know what to think of Kansas now. I don't think there is any denying they suck, but I'm still worried I could see them getting pumped up against the Tigers when they face them.

That really seems to sum it up. I think the key word is young. Webb shows me good things as do other pieces. I think this will be a roller coaster year for us that ultimately leaves us short of even a joke bowl game. The record could be as bad as last year although I hope not. In this rebuild year if we can beat K-State or MU it'll give me some pleasure (rather beat K-State they just irritate me more). Sorry DC.

Won't happen. I think it has something to do with the Title XI being one of the reasons.
That being said, congrats on a big comeback against sCUm, which caused Hawkins to get fired.

Hawkins needed to be gone for a while now. He hasn't been anything since he left the cupcakes of the WAC behind.
I don't realistically think he Jack meant he literally thought they should get rid of football, but still, that's pretty harsh criticism is all I got to say.
