Sorry Nathan, Love them Red Birds....

Well, its getting to be about that time. I wouldn't be the Cardinal fan that I am without starting a thread. I know my brother Chris will be a big contributor to this thread as well. SO, I will start off with our closer, ...

Looks Like Izzy will not be back. There plenty of guys that can fill his shoes, and although there was some speculation that Carpenter might be a candidate for this, I doubt that will be the case. I would like to see Chris Perez win the job in spring training. He had an amazing year last year as a rookie, and if he can get a slider pitch of some sort down in Jupiter, I like his chances.

I am absolutely stoked that the Cards were able to avoid arbitration with Rick Ankiel. If you didn't witness the year he had last year, you must not have been paying attention. This guy is my living "Natural" right now. I have always been a huge fan of Ankiel's.

Now they need to get Ludwick taken care of, and Troy Glaus healthy. If they can do that, I like their chances to compete.

6-2 right now, looking good Mr. Pujols. I still am concerned about our closing situation. I really wish Chris Perez wouldnt have had the spring he had. There is plenty of time, But I am thrilled at the 6-2 start.

This division will be a tough one to win, no doubt. But a good start regardless.

Last night, Chris Carpenter left the game in the 4th inning with a rib strain. This is not good.

NICE!

Now, these Cards are doing quite well right now considering their obstacles. Carpenter went down, they are still in first place, and took two of three from the Cubs last week. If they can find their identity at closer, I like thier chances.

Well the sweep of the Cubs was fun the last three days. We got Carps back. He is such a bulldog. Gotta love Chris Carpenter.

Another great game from Nick Stavinoha. Kyle Losch goes 7 innings, and shuts out the Royals on 4 hits. Looks like the Redbird starters are coming around. Thats 5 in a row. And they are doing it WITHOUT Ludwick, and Ankeil.

Posted ImageWell, Went to Busch with Dad, and my brothers last night. Cards beat the Tigers 11-2. The sent Verlander to the mound, and the Cards just crushed him all night. It was pretty awesome. Finally a little offense!! Here are the highlights!! Enjoy!

I would like to say, good series against the Royals this weekend. It was great to get the sweep, and get back into first place, although I'm not really celebrating that it came against the Royals. I do see alot of good players on that team.

Good series. Albert was amazing today on Fathers day.

This is really starting to become a very special year for the Redbirds. The ALL STAR GAME is literally days away, and I am really feeling good about this Redbird team. They are in first place, they started the Cub series with a win, and Albert Pujols is playing arguably his best baseball of his career right now. Carpenter is back, and rocking. Next week we get Kyle Losch back, Ryan Ludwick is getting hot, and watching this young Colby Rasmus play is fun. He makes alot of mistakes, but you can tell he is a baller.

If we can just get Ankiel, and Duncan going, I think we can win the Central outright.

A week ago, I said this. Today, I am willing to say, that I think it is fair to say that the Cardinals brass has decided to go for a world series bid with the recent transactions. If they can land one more arm, I will feel VERY very good about the Redbirds chances at KICKING THE LIVING CRAP out of the CUBS, and Brewers, and WINNING the Central Division.

This Lugo guy, in two days has been flat out sick. Plus Holliday, plus, DeRossa. 8-1 victory over the world champs yesterday, 3-3 right now in todays game, and I am feeling really good about the 2009 Cardinals.

RICK ANKEIL is GETTING HOT. There is another HOME RUN. Seven for him. I was worried about him. I know he is going to snap out of it, and the last three days have been great for him. Cards lead the Philly's 4-3 with the Ankeil homerun.
