I admit to being a diehard Chiefs fan. The last couple of years have been rough, but we should have seen this coming since Marty left and control went to Carl. I am not going to spend anymore time bashing Carl but this team for decades has done nothin but get old and rot. Even in the Dicky V. years we where a lousy team. We need this, what we are going through. This has been a long time coming, and the longer you let a problem go the longer it takes to fix it. Herm srtipping the team to the bare wood last year I think will help in the long run, but for now we got Haley and Scotty trying to put some kind of team on the field with players that wouldnt start on 80% of the teams in the league. I am not going to go into detail defending Haley. I will say I like him. I think we "the Fans" should give him some time. The problems he has he did not create, he is trying t fix them. Everyday I read what the Chiefs Nation is saying on the different websites and I wonder where is this great fan base that we are supposed to be. What do you all want? Haley to come in and we go 11-5? If you where really fans then you would know our roster is young for the most part and alot of it doesnt work. And how anyone can judge us on these first games before the bye this year? Hello? NFC east those guys in blue and green are no joke. So here we are new, young, and playing a schedule that playoff teams dont play. BACK OFF, chill out, hang in there. Be fans. I personally am enjoing this rebuilding. Yeah its rough to watch on Sunday, but I think its exciting overall. we have been average for so long without really improving. Now I can see a staff who looks to me like the are trying to be great and not just a "playoff" team like in the past. I say dig deep and give these guys a chance.

I have to say.. I have just read three of your articles this evening and they are the most informative, well-written, contemplative I have seen in this genre.. I am especially keen on your ability to formulate logical/rational conclusions from past errors in evaluation and strategy..are you sure you are a sports reporter?

Respectfully,

Good for them-I had just tried to visit kcchiefs.com and saw that it was down at the moment-so I decided to stop by homeofthechiefs.com.Thanks for posting that info,so we know what is up!

I also wanted to comment that as we approach week 2 of the 2009 Pre-Season,I saw a lot of people posting on Facebook, after last Saturday's game, comments like "Another year, another loss!".

I posted in my staus update immediately following the game that I do not want to want to hear anybody going all "gloom & doom" on the Chiefs already!

You have to realize, that despite the loss, there were several bright spots.Larry Johnson and Dantrell Savage seemed to be firing on all cylinders with the run game.
Dewayne Bowe looked good at receiver.Ryan Succop, who some bonehead previously tagged "Mr Irrelevant",became "Mr.Got us our only 3 points in the first half, and 4 of our 10 points for the night." Everybody had to know that the 'Mr.Irrelebvant' tag was going to quickly blow-up in your face.Kickers, just like any other player, can win or lose games for you-and more often than not, they are that last second 3-point hero in a game.

And,though it was not Matt Cassel shining the brightest,as so many had hoped,Tyler Thigpen,on the other hand, got it done both passing, and rushing, and showed some real toughness, taking some hard hits as he rushed down the field, cradling the football, and making first downs, not to mention our only touchdown in the game.

As for those who struggled-plenty of time to grow and develop before the regular season.So,please,people,people.....get a grip!

Quit looking for all the possibilities for failure, get behind your KC Chiefs and look at all the better possibilities for success in this 2009-2010 season!!

Yo barry. I think the main question I asked myself while i was getting drenched(in a preseason game at that)was whether our offensive line is going to be able to sustain its self throughout the season. I thought the defense showed signs of hope. With the corners looking more comfortable, especially when flowers could have ran intercepted that pass for 6, things are looking good on that end. pollard looked solid and so did others. keep up the good work man and i will keep posting

I was happy to hear of Jackson's signing,as I knew from Barry's Training Camp updates, that in the arly part of last week,he was not present in camp, due to the lack of a contract agreement.

I knew that the sooner he was able to be in camp and working out with the team, the better,as it is always vital to have all your players actively involved and learning the Chiefs system, especially with new Head Coach Todd Haley now at the helm,it would also be easier for the Coach to be able to quickly begin to evaluate Tyson's performance,in preperation for Saturday's pre-season opener.

He should be a good fit for the Chiefs in 2009 and beyond.

I have been watching Barry's daily videos from the day he headed for,and since he arrived in River Falls. He definitely has a talent for observation of what's going on in camp, and knowing exactly how best to report his findings.

Barry also seems to have a very warm, friendly, outgoing personality that serves him well,in forming relationships with other fans, players and coaches, and even the rest of the media. This makes the videos all the more enjoyable, and has now been rewarded in his having received press credentials from the Chiefs public relations staff.

I mentioned Barry in my very first Blog written for www.kcsuperfans.com just this week and I look forward to seeing what the future holds as he continues to cover events concerning our beloved Chiefs.

He may be "Barry In St.Louis",but it's clear that when it comes to fotball,in his heart,he is very much "Barry In Kansas City"! His efforts on behalf of those of us that could not be in River Falls, and may not get to actually attend a lot of games is certainly appreciated.Barry is truly one of the KC Super-Fans!

And,so,in Barry Peraino style, this is John in Kansas City......signing off!
